The quiet week in division I in terms of quantity of games, but not quality. The BYU vs Utah game could be a better game than it has in a long time(if not ever), there is that potential. Both teams have had their ups and down over the course of the season, but BYU is gelling at the right time as they get ready for the conference and national championships, and their talent is too much for the Utes. I predict a 14-6 Cougar victory.

Let's say the U wins on Thursday, but does not win the RMLL tourney...do they get an at-large bid to Dallas?

Doesnt matter...Utah will NOT beat BYU...I think the first quarter may be close but then BYU will roll. I will be very suprised if BYU doesnt winn by at least 8. Utah beat a below average CU team and got lucky with a CSU team that obviously didnt take them seriously and then lost to lindenwood. I know this game is "sexy" because of Utahs wins but it will be just another BYU vs Utah game with BYU winning....again

well to actually answer your question, I think no. They have to win out or at least beat BYU this weekend and then their first round opponent to get in. IMO

I completely agree. Utah is in a horrible position right now. They have to beat a team that they have never beaten in the post-Steve Zuckerman era. I really hope they do it, but judging from past results, I am not holding my breath.
After that, they have to face either a very angry CSU squad, bent on revenge, or a very angry CU team, bent on revenge. I think they all need the win, because I think only the two teams in the RMLC finals will make nationals.
If the U makes the RMLC finals, there is no way I am picking against them, because they will truly be a team of destiny.

That being said, I hope Coach Rich gets them up for all the remaining games, and they make a strong showing.

i think it all comes down to who is explosive out of the gates and can maintain composure down the stretch. utah has often been close early only to lose it later in the game (ie last year). a lot of this game comes down to penalties in the heat of battle as well as who can play composed when things start to get a bit rough on the field in lieu of heavy scoring swings just as in any rival game. i think the utes have an immense amount of talent and if they can keep it together for all four quarters they do have a strong chance. ultimately on the field i think it will come down to utah's defense against the high-powered byu attack. if the attack is handled then utah will pull it off by 2. i'm going on a limb here.

If Utah draws CSU in the semi's of the RMLC playoff, can they pull out another victory and face the Cougars again (assuming they can also beat CU in their respective game)? If they can get to the championship will that be enough to propel them into consideration for the invite to nationals? My feeling is negative on all accounts, but I think it is an exciting possibility for the Utes.

It would be a long shot but with a win over CSU and a close game in the Championship, who knows.

If I'm correct, the winner of CSU/CU gets Utah in the RMLC first round, and the loser gets BYU.

Utes are in a tough spot after last night's game. They must win the first round game in the RMLC's to have any shot at going to Dallas.
