Does anybody know yet how SFU played against Westminster today?

SFU 12. . .Westminster 11

Ben Towner scored the game winner with 14 seconds left in the game.

Good luck to the Clan tomorrow against BYU.

Game 1 for both teams, so I am not sure what to think about the two teams or the score. Westminster was the preseason #1 in Div II and SFU is trying to show they are one of the top teams in Div I once again.

Both teams are loaded with underclassmen so it will be interesting to see how the two teams mature throughout the year.

For the Griffins this is consecutive losses to PNCLL teams by one goal - they lost to the Griz in a 16-15 thriller in Dallas last year.

Regardless another PNCLL win and congrats to the Clan. BYU is waiting so get some rest and go win another in Utah.

Congrats to the Clan for the gritty win. I think it is important for the D1 fan to know that Westminster is not your average D2 team, I don't know if they lost anyone from last year's team that lost to the champs Montana by a goal. I think that this score is a scary intro to the season to come for Westminster in D2.

Looking forward to seeing what the Clan can do in the next two games! Good luck against the Cougs! Provo can be a scary place!

Looking at this

http://uslmdia.org/team.cfm?conferencei ... teamid=251

Their team last year was made up of (based on eligibility) 17 Freshman, 4 Sophomores and 2 Juniors. Although one of the Freshman was a Senior Classman

will was 100% right on this, regardless of who they lost or did not lose westminster is not your average d2 team. if i remember correctly aren't they on mission to go all the way to the ncaa ranks? every two years they are petitioning to move up or something like that. Westminster is a scary team, much like montana has been the last three or so years i think westiminster will do the same if not quicker.

i see a lot of comparisons between these two teams. (i only reference montana because i played against them for two strong years) great lacrosse backgrounds will almost surely dominate any league west of the mississippi. even though sfu is hyped this year and they are a d1 team i'm not so sure they were the clear cut favorite in this game, this was sort of an upset in my eyes, just looking at paper and what both teams did last year, i am very excited for sfu to continue this and beat BYU!!! go clan

BYU 17 SFU 11 Final

Not the result SFU was hoping for but it looks like they fought back from an early deficit 6 or 7 to 0 at one point. I am sure the Westminster game took something out of the Clan and facing the preseason #1 will also get your nerves up a little. You knew BYU would come out blazing as they had 2 1-goal defeats last week. Take out the first quarter, I know you can't, but the score was pretty even after that.

Let's hope the Clan can continue their strong play....they still have games against Oregon, Lindenwood, Illinois, Texas A&M and Sonoma.
