Thanks to Kevin Leary and the folks at Curtis H.S. for hosting the Huskies and Cougars. It's great having Wazzou back in the PNCLL fold, and I expect good things from WSU Lax in the near future. This was a fun way for both teams to wrap up Fall Ball, and a good kickoff for the football rivalry that will take center stage tomorrow afternoon at Husky Stadium.

EDIT: Cougs get the last laugh, coming from behind for a 42-35 win behind a brilliant performance by Senior QB Alex Brink. I fear this might not help Ty Willingham's job security.

Well, Jason, somebody with a big following of readers agrees with your analysis. Here's today's column, and it may well be a precursor to next week's headlines here in Seattle:

Regarding the lacrosse game, don't read too much into any score from Fall ball. The Cougs definitely have some talent but were reportedly missing their best long poles and therefore had some troubles on the defensive end during this game. The Cougs have a fine young Goalie who made some huge saves throughout, and they do have some good weapons on the offensive end. The Huskies were missing alot of key guys also, but we did have our top five attackmen and a couple of our best middies and therefore had a big advantage in this short-squad contest. I think at least ten different Huskies scored goals in the game, and the coaches were pleased with some of our ball movement -- at least for short stretches, anyway. Despite the lopsided final margin, Wazzou battled hard and was definitely competitive for all four quarters. One of the biggest factors in the game was Tierney, who dodged through the WSU defense pretty consistently and dished out five assists, but was actually held without a goal -- which was a source of great post-game amusement to everyone on the Husky sideline except, of course, for Nick himself.

As you do to mine, NT. Well almost always, anyway. When I see you "line up" the biggest opposing player for a loose ball body-check I'm not always smiling. You may think you are as big and bad as Brodie Merrill, but you're still just a skinny middie and you give me heart failure sometimes, but I guess you just always gotta be you!
