RMLC scoring leaders

Granted there have been some blowouts and CU never puts their stats in, but as of now, CSU has the top 5 scorers in the entire RMLC. Cunningham, Stanitz-Harper, Farquhar, Stevens and Bird are atop the leaderboard thusfar. Doesn't really mean anything at this point in the season but, interesting nonetheless. In Division B, LeSavage for UNC leads the way with 21 points.

It is also true (like last year) that CSU has more games than anyone else. Last year (for whatever reason, CSU played a LOT of them, plus the fact that (inexplicably -- a definite pain) some of the other teams apparently stopped entering scores before the end of the season, when some of the guys really hit stride) the scoring stats showed point totals over 22 games for CSU, 14 for BYU, 17 for Colorado, 15 for Utah, 14 for Utah State. So at the very least, the stats organized by points/game are MUCH more meaningful than the ones sorted by total points which unfortunately appears on the rmlax.com main page, and it is easy (VERY easy last year) to get the wrong impression by not noticing that fact (did that have something to do with the way some of the AA awards came out?). That said, CSU presently STILL has the top 4 spots (and a tie for 5th) in points/game this year (by stark contrast to the way last year finished up), but I think that is aided (as you said) by being a reflection of CSU having so far played 5 out of 6 blowout games against weaker teams (plus the one win over Colorado College) whereas BYU has played Arizona, NYIT, and Michigan in their 5 so far, Utah has played Arizona and Colorado as 2 of their 4, and those are the only teams reporting at this point (also note that Kyle Fiat (shown as last year's points/game leader, being THE go-to guy at USU) has moved on to Towson, I believe). Don't get me wrong, CSU obviously has some very potent offensive folks who will clearly be scoring leaders, and always has, and they deserve credit for that. I'm just pointing out that it is possible sometimes to get a slanted view from some stats (such as those on the rmlax.com front page -- note that the points/game stats are the ones that are archived on that site, at least). I think it would also be very useful (someday when the mythical unified MDIA stat system arrives) to do the comparisons like this across the whole league.

about "awards and accolades"- pretty much worthless if you dont win it all. I bet every one of CSU's all-americans last year would give up their awards in exchange for a national title.

Now they just have to figure out to put in goals against for their goalie, who as it stands right now is saving 100% of his shots against. Just goes to show that complaining can get you everywhere in life.
