So it looks like hell froze over and Wisconsin will now have a NCAA lax team.

Does anyone know anything about Carthage College and especially their lacrosse program. Was this something people saw coming?

Anyone ever play them? On their website it appears they have a club team.

looks like a pretty cool campus.

They are in the same NCAA conference as Wheaton College, Augustana, Illinois Weselyn, etc. From what I understand, their academics aren't to great, but with them being the only NCAA lacrosse heading to the greater chicago area, I wouldn't be surprised if they drew a lot of quality talent from there in a short amount of time

To my knowledge they do not have a club program. My understanding is that they are going to compete at a "club" level their first year and then compete as a full DIII school the following year. I have heard complimentary comments about their coach.

I think Carthage ought to do well given it's location and being the first in the area to do it. I am more interested to see how Carthage's presence improves/increases the high school game. Currently, high school lax in Wisconsin is still a "club" sport and it does not appear (to my knowledge) that it will be becoming anything more than that for now. Perhaps Carthage's presence in the community will improve that.

By the way, why did Hell have to freeze over for this?

They have been preparing to add lax for some time now. The new coach is an Illinois alumni with an extensive coaching resume in Chicago. He coached Team Illinois last year and has strong ties with Lacrosse America. Expect Coach Neff to start recruiting heavily in the Midwest.

are any teams close to carthage (marquette, wheaton, perhaps augustana, illinios, illinois state, etc) going to try and schedule a game against carthage while they are still in the "club" phase?

The Clemen's Family presents Dan Genck Field at Bernick's Pepsi Stadium. It has a nice ring to it.

Coach is already sending out letters to coaches in MN hs ball saying he's going to recruit "Heavily" in Minnesota. Just an FYI.
