Southern has had small numbers all year; take in the injuries and loss of top scorer Jamison Whitehead were playing with 12-14 guys. Now he has this team in the Final Four for the second strait year, two years in our three-year existence. Peter has done one heck of a job there filling in for the dean, Being a student and playing can be hard yet alone being a law student in a different city and getting that team in to the playoffs, you have to take your hat off to both of these guys.

i second that.
new and improved.

Barbour won it in 2001 by himself when he took a rag-tag team of laxers/barflys to the final four in BC. Joe Kerwin stepped in as head coach 2 years ago (?). In the MCLA, it's very difficult to take a team from an 8-9 position to a top 3 national title contender. The top 4-5 had been virtually static until this year. No question, any coach or impartial observer should agree, Kerwin has been brilliant this year. And again, Joe needs the PNCLL award to qualify for the national award, which he presumably has a good chance at winning.

Joe won the Coach of the Year award tonight. . .and yes, he has a legitimate shot at winning national coach of the year. The job he has done with the Ducks this season has been phenomenal. . .
