New Bridge Lacrosse Program Kicks Off in Atlanta

Atlanta Bridge Lacrosse (ABL) has begun work in the area this fall with the goal of promoting lacrosse in areas of our community that might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in our great sport. Initial targets include local YMCA's as well as area Boys' and Girls' Clubs. ABL is also interested in talking with any other organization that might help us sponsor or guide interested parties.

The organization hopes to partner with all of the youth lacrosse programs in the metro area and establish “scholarships” to their programs for qualifying individuals. ABL will also collect used equipment and provide new equipment when possible. Other services could include arranging transportation to games and practices and forming teams and/or leagues within areas where enough interest exists.

ABL will work with sponsoring organizations to seek grants in support of their efforts. Volunteers are needed from the college, high school, and middle school levels to run clinics, coach, and officiate in Bridge Lacrosse programs.

Anyone who would like to be involved in this effort on any level, please contact Michael Butkus at michael@ndr.com or 770-850-3838. To learn more about the national Bridge Lacrosse program, go to http://www.uslacrosse.org/bridge/index.phtml
