Tournaments

Postby DLAX on Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:14 pm

I was curious what preseason tournaments are out there in the PNCLL? If your team is hosting or you know of a tourney going on please put down the following information, or whatever information you know.

1) where is it?
2) when is it?
3) how much will it cost?
4) who is going to be there?
5) any hotel deals in that area?
6) how many games will each team get?

If you would like to post more information go for it.

Gem State Lacrosse Tournament

Postby Shawn Carman on Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:42 pm

BSU is hosting its 8th Annual Gem State Lacrosse Tournament.

1.) Where is it? It is going to be held right here on the BSU Campus. With games played on our grass club sports field as well as on our famous blue smurf turf.

2.) When is it? It is being held Saturday October 14th and Sunday October 15th.

3.) How much will it cost? Team dues are $400, and that goes to pay for officials, awards, and a festive BBQ at then end.

4.) Who is going to be there? Teams from Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana are all being invited.

5.) Any hotel deals in the area? Yes we have a local hotel that is willing to reduce the rates of their rooms for any team that travels to Boise.

6.) How many games will each team get? Each team is guaranteed 2 games because it is 8 teams participating in a double elimination tournament. But there will be an exhibition game held for the first two teams eliminated so every team is guaranteed 3 games.

Deadline for applications is Sept 29th.

Popular weekend, also on October 14-15th there is a tournament just South of Seattle held by a Men's Club Team. Last seaon UPS, PLU, WWU, & several Club teams formed the 8 team field. It was pretty fun, a great facility. It should have been 3 games on Saturday, 1 on Sunday, if you're interested in taking part of the tournament in that area let me know, I'll have them contact you directly with more information. Cost is $375 I believe.

Maybe

Postby Shawn Carman on Fri Sep 15, 2006 5:41 pm

Maybe I will be taking faceoffs during the tournament, or maybe NOT. But I do know that there is a time and place for that and I would rather leave that one for the practice field.

By the way, you saw me try to faceoff, it wasnt happening and was anything but pretty.

And if I remember correctly, dont you need a stick to faceoff? Since you dont seem to have one, I guess you wont be taking any either.

Montana just finished up our home tournament this weekend...and with zero PNCLL teams that made the trip, we decided to split our roster into an A and B team and play Montana State in a double header. The A team played first and started very sloppy, going down 4-0 early, but then got into the groove and came out with a 10-7 victory. The B team played very well, and with the help of a few alum, beat the Bobcats 7-1 in the second game. It was a good opportunity for both teams to play everyone on their rosters and both games had some really good competition...thanks to the Cats for making the trip.
