NEWS EDITOR
Status: Part-time
Deadline: Open until filled
Description/Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The News Editor will report to the Webmaster and help edit and control the news items that are displayed on the USLIA.com web site. In charge of making sure the content on the US Lacrosse Web site is useful and informative for players, coaches, parents, and web site fans. This position requires someone who must also be able to work self sufficiently.
The News Editor will primarily edit team and conference press releases, then post them to the web site using a web interface program called phpNews. The News Editor will also monitor alternate lacrosse web sites/news media outlets for potential news items. The News Editor will also write occasional articles for the web site.
The News editor will work remotely via e-mail and web. Estimated time commitment varies. Expected 1 - 2 hours a week out of season. Expected 3 - 4 hours a week during the spring lacrosse season (Late January - End of May). Interested candidates shouldn't be an active coach or player due to the time commitment required.
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
Journalism, Public Relations degree or experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of computers and programs such as Microsoft Word, the Internet, e-mail, Instant Messaging (IM).
Intermediate knowledge of HTML coding and phpNews.
Other advance web program knowledge (i.e. Flash, Dreamweaver, Java, etc.) is a plus, but not required.
Strong writing skills. Preferred experience in press release preparation and/or sports journalism.
Intermediate knowledge of the game of lacrosse, the MDIA community, and college athletics in general.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to travel to the 2007 MDIA National Championships (May 8 - 12 in Dallas, TX) is a bonus.

PHOTO EDITOR
Status: Part-time

Description/Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Photo Editor will report to the Webmaster and help edit and post MDIA photographs that are displayed in the USLIA.com Photo Gallery. The Photo Editor will receive photographs from a variety of photographers around the country in numerous ways (hard media, email, etc.). The Photo Editor will then edit the photos and prepare them for publication on the USLIA.com web site using Web Album Generator (http://www.ornj.net/) or another similar program. The Photo Editor will then upload the edited pictures and photo album files via FTP to the USLIA.com web site. This position requires someone who must also be able to work self sufficiently.
The Photo Editor will work remotely via e-mail and web. Estimated time commitment varies. Expected 3 - 4 hours a week during the spring lacrosse season (Late January - End of May). Interested candidates shouldn't be an active coach or player due to time commitment required.

High Speed Internet access and a fast computer with large hard disk drive are a must.
Intermediate knowledge of the game of lacrosse, the MDIA community, and college athletics in general.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The Graphic Designer will report to the Webmaster and help create unique graphics for use on the USLIA.com web site. This position requires someone who must also be able to work self sufficiently.
The Graphic Designer will work remotely via e-mail and web. Estimated time commitment varies, but is expected to account for 1 - 2 hours a week.
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
Basic knowledge of computers and programs such as Microsoft Word, the Internet, e-mail, Instant Messaging (IM).
Strong knowledge of FTP programs and protocols & Zip files/formatting,
Strong knowledge of image editing programs such as Photoshop or other advanced web programs (i.e. Flash, Dreamweaver, Java, etc.).
