matching arm guards????

matching arm guards????

Postby soulax #7 on Fri Feb 25, 2005 1:16 pm

I was wondering if arm guards had to match the rest of the teams like gloves do. I am looking to get new pads but some of the Warrior and Brine armguards don't come in black, only silver or clear.......I couldn't find anything that says they do have to match but I don't really want to waste money and buy pads I can't use.

Arm guards are not a fashion violation, however undershirts are.... Essentially, you get socks, elbows, shoes, stick....

actually one of our players was told that his arm gaurds have to be black. the ref informed him that if his arm guards (silver) were not black by the next game it would be an automatic penalty  so we have been curious about this rule as well

I guess I'm not going to get too far into how games are officiated, but my understanding is above.... EVERYONE calls their games differently, and the rules change every year, which can be a source of confusion in some instances, whether its the coach or the referee.....

As far as giving a warning for next game, that's definately not in the rule book. Either its a flag or not, but with the random color elbow pads from pink to yellow to blue should all be fine (or it was explained to me incorrectly). I haven't studied the 'fashion violation' section of the rulebook, I know there is a PDF online you can check. As well, it's not a penalty if the man does not step on the field.

If we didn't have matching shorts... Only 11 pair, and I had guys warm up in speedos... They could switch shorts in the box, and it would be okay... Longest substitution ever, possibly a delayed sub, but still possible.

Any rule questions that you want a official transcription for should be directed at Keith, the head referee, probably through your coach. If Keith ever was wrong, he'd still be the head referee, and he's always listened to my 'input.' Dan Wishengrad may also be a good source as he has refereed for years previous to his UW affiliation.
