The Durango lacrosse team capped the spring season by winning the championship in the fifth annual Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree in Wheat Ridge.
The Demons, a group of high school-age players, beat defending champion Golden 5-4 in the title game. Durango's club program is in its second year. Golden fielded a Colorado High School Activities Association team and finished second this season in the Foothills Conference with an 8-1 record.
The Durango lacrosse players wrapped up the season with the tournament championship and an 18-7-1 overall record. The team was 15-3 in the club lacrosse conference.
In the Jamboree tournament, Durango went 3-2-1 over three days, winning all three games on Sunday. Those victories included a 4-0 shutout of Aspen, a 5-3 win over Summit and the upset of Golden in the final.
Golden had defeated Durango 8-2 on the opening day of the tournament.
"This was a great victory for our team and the program as a whole," said head coach John Robinette.
