Parity???

Parity???

Postby Laxman50 on Sun Feb 13, 2005 1:25 pm

Can anyone keep up with UMD?? I saw a post where Rob talked about parity. It seems that the scores are getting further and further apart not any closer. Look what UMD did to Kato. Back when I was at St. Mary's some teams still played neck and neck with UMD can anyone do that this year? Also don't get me wrong congrats to Rob and UMD but parity seems like a long way off.

Parity might not be the best word, but I believe that the level of play overall in our league has improved dramatically over the past 5 years or so due to the factors mentioned in Rob's post.

UMD spends a lot of time recruiting. Rob and his upperclassmen are in contact with a number of local HS players each spring. Minnesota specifically prohibits me from directly recruiting, other schools aren't as organized in this area, some schools recruit loewer profile players. St John's coach is actually paid as a recruiter by the University.

One thing though, like in all sports, success is an attactive quality in an organization and Duluth certainly has that going for them.

Chris, nice win for you this weekend. I would also like to thank Rob and Chris for running the UMLL for soooo long. I hope someone steps up when one or both of you have to or want to step down. I remember you guys trying to get coach Walz to stop the Winnebago - our team might still be around if we did. Oh well it was fun. :D

In case anyone didn't see the other post, it was on the main boards. Took me a while before I came accross it.
