Minnesota vs Duluth at the Xcel Energy Center

Postby Chris Larson on Sat Jan 29, 2005 2:30 am

Final score Duluth 13, Minnesota 9.

In a 60 minute running time contest, UMD jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on for the victory.

Approxomately 700 vocal fans stayed after the Swarm-Storm game (8-7 Storm victory) to witness the first collegiate box lacrosse contest in the state of hockey.

Many thanks to Cory and Michael of the Swarm for all their work to make this event a reality and to all the fans who supported both teams.

It doesn't look like the game is listed on the schedule at the UMLL Website.

Danny:

No, but it was a spirited match, well contested by each side.

And, most importantly, except for some bumps and bruises, no injuries to either team.

Lets be honest, the U couldn't hang against UMD's split squad. How do they expect to hang with them in a bigger field. I watched the game and I can't beleive that the U of M middies were so bad, not because it was a box game but they got puked around by Klossner, Nelson, and Lauria. And that their scoring came from kessler, not train, not zev. I think that, that game was alot more meaning full they people want to admitt. Keep saying time will tell, but UMD's studs came to play and the U's did not and that was the biggest difference. I think that UMD is the clear favorite and will challenge nationally in the top 10 but as far as the U goes they need some help but if anyone can get those boys ready to play UMD during the season its Coach Larsen. Good luck to all. Go Pats, and remember the champion is still the champion till they fall.
