I started this as a new thread so I would not take up a lot of space on the weekend scores thread.
From SFALAXDREW
"AC is a team that has improved a ton since I we first played them 3 years ago. They have good numbers and a solid attack. Give them a few years and some more experience, they will have great potential. Also, from talking to their attack, it sounds like they are getting good support from their school. Possible stadium to be built behind the football field could attract talent from the DFW area."
As much as I would like to see Austin College succeed and do well, I would be extremely shocked if another stadium were built. AC administration does very little to support and promote athletics. It is all about academics.
They have played in the same football stadium forever and only recently remodeled the home bleachers to a very nice look, but still relatively small by college standards. The visitor bleachers are the same portable bleachers that have also been there forever. The track surrounding the field has been torn out and since they no longer have a track team, what remains is a blacktop eyesore.
What I'm getting at is that I don't believe there is any intention of building a second stadium, for whatever purpose. The athletes at Austin College are true student athletes who play for the love of the game, regardless of the sport. No different than most all of the other college club lacrosse players around the country, but for all practical purposes, AC's school sports are treated like they are club sports as well. Sports to them is nothing more than a student extra-curricular activity for something to do when not studying. Given that, I don't see them attracting top athletes any time soon.
