Rivalrys and field issues aside, I thank all you PNCLL message board posters who have been so supportive of our grueling OOC schedule. Theres nothing better than come back and see that your boys up in the northwest are there for you. This was one hell of a week for oregon lacrosse. the physical and mental taxation of traveling so far and playing in 5 intense games over 7 days has just been tremendous. I think we have come through it to become a much better team in the most core sense. Before our mantra could have been described as "We win as a team, but we loose as individuals" (al pachino), but after this week I think its "win or loose, we're a team". thanks again for everyones support

I believe the official score was UC Davis 14, PLU 13 in overtime. . .

PLU held the halftime lead, but UCD went on a scoring spree in the 3rd (8 goals I believe), PLU battled back to take a 2 goal lead with 2:30 left in regulation, and UCD scored the game-tying goal as time expired.

Another brutally difficult and close loss for the Lutes. That makes 4 losses by a total of 5 goals to UW, UVSC, BSU and now UCD.

We need to learn how to finish games.

Something tells me you'll get that hammered out in the next few weeks. Sorry for the incorrect score, I was given bad information!

It was 1-0 SFU at the half, but that's all I saw...

UC Davis vs. SFU

Postby lacrossefan on Wed Mar 30, 2005 3:44 pm

7-4 for Sfu. Not a very exciting game. Sfu had a very short bench (not quite sure why they were that short, they only had 6 subs I think. where was everyone else?). The uc-davis team also looked much bigger (in size) than the clan.
Sfu dominated the possession in the game tho, and cleared the ball well (their d-poles had some good runs). I personally thought Sfu outplayed them, but the score did not represent that at all. It was 4-4 at one point. Hats off to Davis for keeping it within reach. Sfu offense seemed to only turn it on at the end.
It was cold (freezing for people watching! ) during the game. And it was played at a very nice highschool turf field. Gotta love those night games under the lights.
I hope my account is accurate. :P
Good luck to both teams with the rest of their seasons.

UC Davis vs. PLU, Simon Frasor

Postby ucdlax on Fri Apr 01, 2005 12:05 am

Let me give you the highlights of the three paragraph post I just deleted.... PLU was a very class act that battled hard to the end, Davis thanks you. The rest was uncalled for, and was deleted. It did NOTHING but try to provoke a problem. Many times I have problems with referees and opponents, but we're doing our best to keep this board positive, so its done.

Thanks for coming up Davis, I'm sorry your trip wasn't as pleasant as you had hoped. I've heard nothing but good things about your players and team. Good luck in the rest of your season.

A couple of comments in response to ucdlax as I too was at the game. In the first quarter SFU only had/used two substitutes, although many more were dressed I only saw the 10 starters, 1 extra pole and 1 extra mid touch the field. In the subsequent quarters 5 more SFU players saw action from my vantage point. By my count that is 18 players if you count their other keeper, a far cry from the 25 they started the year with. They definately did not have more than 10 subs. Another point to make and this has been discussed in previous forums, SFU is with out a few key players right now themselves. I believe it was Dan that reported that they are without a starter at each position right now. You take 1 starting pole, mid and attack of any team and it will certainly effect the team. Hopefully the Clan can get these players back come playoffs or it will be a short season for them.

In response to PWNLaxer:

UC Davis was missing about 7 players from their 27 player roster, 2 starting attack, 1 starting midfield and their backup goalie, just to name a few. 11 of those remaining ~20 were rookies, and 4 of those rookies are first year players. Nothing implied, these are just the facts.

And I think everyone would love to see a rematch between the teams, fully loaded.
