In his second in San Marcos, Texas State head coach, and 2013 Lone Star Alliance Division I Coach of the Year, Michael Brand named four veterans as team captains and announced the schedule for the 2014 season. Seniors Jason DiGiovanni, and Will Laurel along with Junior Patrick Franklin and Sophomore Blake Mattinson will captain the Bobcats during a season that features seven opponents from outside the state of Texas, five home games and four games held at Texas High School stadiums.
