Apparently Jacksonville University will have a D1 Men's Lacrosse team starting in the 2009-2010 season.

Well, i guess that eliminates them from joining the MCLA. I heard they were at the SELC meeting(i could be wrong).

That was my initial reaction as well, but since this is the first division 1 program in the area it could attract some real talent in the future

Talk about the ability to recruit. If I were the Jax coach, I would go to Carthage, West Gennessee, and all the other schools above the "arctic circle" there...just making sure to schedule campus visits for January and Febuary. I would then assign "hostesses" to show the prospects around. Nuff said.

As soon as I can sign up for a D1 budget, you're my first call.

Dont ever confuse effort with results. I have always maintained that IF the FSU athletic department committed to having a quality Lacrosse program, it would be a very short distance to being highly competitive. It would be a high visibility situation for a coach. It would be a sougt after job. It would be easy to get kids from Canada and upstate NY to visit, especially during the really cold months. Plus, the scenery aint bad. This situation would be at least as favorable for UF, already having a D1 Women's Lacrosse program. Too bad it will take near apocalyptic circumstances for this to happen, but it's a nice thought.
