Duke/Pressler settlement

Postby laxfan25 on Fri Jun 08, 2007 11:19 am

I saw the link saying that Duke and Coach Pressler reached an amicable settlement. I wonder how much it cost them to make it amicable?

I thought the timing of his book release was propitious -
"Pressler has helped write a book about his experience that goes on sale Tuesday, the same day the prosecutor who labeled the lacrosse players "hooligans" goes on trial for several ethics violations tied to his handling of the case. "

I'm interested in seeing what becomes of Mr. Nifong...

Maybe he'll end up sharing a cell with Paris Hilton.

In case you missed it, this was on SNL a while back:

From http://johnsville.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html wrote:NANCY GRACE: "And to the Duke lacrosse players, congratulations. It looks like you won this round. What with your daddy's money, and your high-priced lawyers, and your NOT having done the things you were accused of"...

"That is why I am saddened by the recent news out of Durham, North Carolina where a brave, young woman, whose cause I have championed week after week on my show "Nancy Grace" appears to have been lying when she claims she was sexually assaulted by three members of the Duke Univesity lacrosse team. Although, thankfully, none of us will ever know her name. That heroic stripper needs our support and our prayers tonight.

Over the past few years, our society has shown much greater sensitivity and compassion in the way it treats victims of sexual assault and that's a good thing. But what about those whose claims of sexual assault are almost certainly false? Who's sticking up for them? Besides me and Durham County D.A. Mike Nifong, nobody."

Laxfan25 I have to disagree.....there's a first time for everything huh? With the limited coverage in the main stream media (besides collegelax of course) outlining the actions by this overzealous prosecutor this is another way to potentially generate attention and to inform people about the incident. The players, their families, their lawyers and Pressler have been timing releases and press conferences the whole time to ensure that their side of the story gets out and not just the "enticing" items.

What exactly are you disagreeing with? BTW:

pro·pi·tious (prə-pĭsh'əs) pronunciation
adj.

1. Presenting favorable circumstances; auspicious. See synonyms at favorable.
2. Kindly; gracious.

You don't think the timing of the release presents favorable circumstances?
