Hypothetical question to promote the CollegeLAX site name?

Hypothetically - If you were to attend a MLL game (think Denver, SF, Chicago, or Los Angeles) or the MCLA National Championship Game(s), what type of promotion would work best to help introduce or reinforce the CollegeLAX web site name?

Would it be a giveaway (hat, shirt, poster, etc.)?
Would it be some sort of on-field contest between some of the fans in attendance?
What about onfield signage/banners?
Program advertising?
PA announcements?

I'm looking for suggestions on how to best attract the target audience of 18-35 males. Thanks.

I think you're setting your sights too low. With the number of people who go to those games, you could probably grab the attention of at least 100 males! :D

Well......That's the easiest crowd to attract if you use one thing. Or maybe 10 to 15 simply clad advertisements. See Miss USA discussion in the water cooler. :lol:

The best way to attract new people (customers) is to hit multiple senses. Hearing and seeing something at games seems to reinforce advertisements for me. I think periodic PA announcements combined with strategically place banners would work the best.

Something written (program or banner and koozy-giveaway) combined with a PA announcement to a booth/table/notification would IMHO get the most attention. That way then they get home and are lookin at the flyer, they see the name and look it up. Or drinking a zima out of their koozy :D

I think if you want them to remember a website address, you need to put it in print either on a give away or in the program. If you just announce it, some people might forget it by the time they get home.

Why is everyone so hung up on beer "koozies"? I'm not a president or commisioner or any other kind of administrator, but I am just invested as the next guy in the success of this league and I don't think that is the image the MCLA should be putting out there.

Males ages 18-35 have been known statistically to have drank something in a can or bottle. They're cheaper than tshirts to make, and get more use out of them than flyers. I have a Nokia bottle opener keychain...that doesn't mean that Nokia is promoting people to drink beer and talk on the phone and drive. It's a target-audience thing.

I use can coolers on soft drinks much more often than on alcoholic beverages.

Not in any overt or legally-liable way does it condone drinking and driving, but it most certainly does enable you to. Particularly given that our target audience is 18-35 yr old males. What do you think an 18 yr old kid is going to put in his "koozy" or open with his key chain bottle opener? We didn't actually say "Here, use this for your beer" or "Think of us while you're driving home drunk", but it certainly makes it possible.

Lacrosse players, as a whole, already have the image of being heavy drinkers and have a serious lack of judgement and I don't think that the governing body needs to reinforce that, no matter how subtle that reinforcement may be.

If you have a booth staffed by ladies "possessing the qualities most valued by the superficial male" (props to the first to identify the quote) managing a basic carnival game, you'll generate a lot of interest. Remember, no women's teams on site this year - it's the moms (stellar in Dallas :twisted: ) girlfriends/wives of participants, or highschoolers (hands off! :evil: ). The boys might be starved for some attention from the fairer gender.

Nothing encourages competition in males like the pheremone laden female. Competition in this form requires a modest expenditure. Before games, and at halftime at the semis and Finals would be prime pickins.

For game, think ring toss, goblet toss (low investment, moderate to high difficulty, high turnover), at 3 chances for a buck. For givaways think prizes at 3 levels corresponding to: low success/participation - bumper stickers/temporary tatoos with a cool logo; medium - koozies, lanyards, boxer shorts; high - polos, hats. Doug Horn should be able to hook you up with prize leads.

Offer to split proceeds with a local charity. Just have to figure out how to balance your investment with potential revenues.

signage at pro games work really well with the target audience as the strategically placed sign can multiple it's effectiveness if the contest is televised. About five years ago a store I worked at looked into signage at NLL venues-posted behind the benches. Not as expensive as you would think. It's a lot of bang for your buck plus it can really target an audience at specific arena or event. Think NCAA final four! that's a lot of access.

So, are the car manufacturers also implicitly condoning drinking and driving by putting cup holders in cars?

Just because someone might do something wrong with something doesn't mean you should never make/sell/give it away. By your logic, you shouldn't give away lacrosse sticks because someone could beat someone to death with it.

The end user has to have some measure of responsibility.
