What MCLA coaches/conf. admins are going to USL Convention?

Postby Sonny on Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:58 am

Now that the MCLA Winter Meeting will be held in Baltimore as part of the IMCLA event - Who is going to the USL Convention in Philadelphia this year? Just curious to see if some folks are going to both events OR just one event.

I'll definitely be attending the meeting in Baltimore. Not sure about Philly this year. I was very disappointed with the US lacrosse convention last year. However, it seems like US lacrosse has recognized that it was down and are trying to raise the bar a little.

The IMCLA had a great first year last year. I got more out of Seth Tierney's 1-4-1 presentation then I got out of everything I went to in Philly. The game is presented at a much higher level at the IMCLA. If you are a college men's coach or coach high school at a competitive level, it will be difficult to get the same level of instruction at the USL, based on last year's experience, unless they make some changes. Although I am supposed to be at several USL meetings, I probably won't be in Philly, but I will be with my hs team in April.

There is no MCLA coaches convention. The MCLA Board meets this Friday at the IMLCA Clinic in Baltimore. The Clinics run Friday - Sunday, and they are very worthwhile to attend, both as educational and networking opportunities.

Is there an IMLCA web site? A friend was going to go to Philly with me, but has a conflict that weekend. He is going to be coaching this year, and may be interested in Baltimore, although it is kind of late if it's this weekend!

Thanks! (Those complicated things like Search functions always leave me searching for answers! )
FYI - I went to that link and clicked on the link to lacrossecoaches.org - in both places it has a period at the end that causes the link to not be found. Can they be eliminated?

Agenda is not set, but will be by tomorrow. To be honest, there is no better time, especially during the winter meetings. Anyone is absolutely welcome, but the winter meetings are meant as more of a chance to make sure we are on the right track. We don't set much policy in the winter.

Thanks John for the update.

I have been very sick as of late and have been a little behind in the loop. Some time I would like to write you on why we separated from US Lacrosse?

Have a great Holiday and good luck with the meetings.

All the best,

John
