The following accusations are made by someone called Laxman 50 on the RMLC forum. I thought I would copy them here because they are serious allegations that seem beyond belief in their absurdity. Here at the University of California we can't even get our players into school, let alone pay them money to play. What do others think?

NCAA rules that I would guess MDIA teams break all the time when recruiting. I am not saying they do just a guess. Contact with kids at a high school game. Contact with kids before they are seniors in high school. Giving kids $ to play at the school. Giving high school kids free shirts or lax gear. Paying kids to play. I could go on and on but I wont. Also the size of the school dose matter or there would be no such thing as D1, D2, D3. How big is CSU and how big is CC. Is CSU a better team than CC yes, are there a few MDIA teams that would be good at the D3 level, sure. Dose this tip the scale a bit for MDIA teams with smart coaches like Flip, Rob Graff, and John Paul -- yes. Again I am not MDIA bashing.

have heard of 2 or three MDIA teams that have given $ to kids. Now I am not saying full ride but yes there are a few times this has happened.

I have had players in the MDIA say they have had help from coaches in the form of cash. Also nothing that I listed is illegal to do in the MDIA. I am not saying what they are doing is wrong in any way but it dose tip the scale a bit. I would think even more in an area like Colorado where there are few Varsity programs. Head to head recruiting must happen all the time between CSU and CC and if one coach has been talking to a kid for 3 years and throwing a hat or a shirt at a kid then another shows up when I am a senior. I would think it might sway a kid a little. Please don't think I am saying that anyone is bad or in the wrong.

St. Mary's was in the MDIA. I am in and around many teams over the year I talk to lots of players coaches and officials. Again I don't think anyone is in the wrong just thought it should be said. I also agree with the lax. CC took a beating the fans should live with it. Also it should be said that many varsity coaches do fudge on the rules themselves (I have see this with my own eyes). I am also not talking about the UMLL I have heard of 3 teams that have given $ to plays in one form or another i.e. scholarships and the like and none of them were in the UMLL. I believe that aggressive recruiting hurts the MDIA. Not the level of play but the vast difference in resources from team to team will keep the rich rich and the poor poor in the MDIA. If you want a truly level playing field in the MDIA ban aggressive recruiting. Many schools such as Minnesota are banned by there school from recruiting directly. So as it stands the few teams in the MDIA with good full time or enough time coaches and money from a long alumni list will keep the other teams down. I am a fan of what the MDIA has done. I applaud the founders and leaders of the league. Good luck to all teams that play in the MDIA this season but most teams will pay the dues and watch the same or close to the same teams in the A playoffs again this year. Congrats on the new B division playoffs it is a step in a positive direction.

That's absurd, I have never heard of or seen anything that resembled unethical recruiting or giving ca$h to players.
I have been around several teams in the USLIA and find these posts to be bananas. :lol:

And to even include Flip, JP, or Rob makes this even more outlandish.

There are too many phrases in these posts that remove any and all credebility from the poster. Here's a couple:

Don't post uncertainty on a lawful message board, if you are going advocate assertions like this, back it up with FACTS.

No MDIA team is putting anywhere near the resources into recruiting that even the lowest level varsity teams are committing. Some MDIA teams certainly recruit, and there are a couple that provide some financial aid to one or two players, but even those are not spending the time or money to aggressively recruit anyone. Can we do some things NCAA teams can't in the recruiting process like contact during dead periods and give out a t-shirt or buy a meal? Yes. Are we abusing it? No way. Is it an advantage? Given the resources most of us put into recruiting and limits most of us have in admissions help - nope. If we ever see recruiting becoming something that is being abused, we'll talk about some form of regulation. As it is now, I don't have any idea how our volunteer group could regulate it anyway.

By the way, NAIA schools like Notre Dame de Namur and St. Vincent have many of the same recruiting advantages since they aren't under the NCAA umbrella - and they actually do recruit aggressively.

So some teams in the MDIA give $ to players. Thats all I was pointing out. If it is not a big deal fine. I said in every post that there was nothing wrong with doing this. I am sorry this was made such a big deal.

Oh yeah......and those $10 for a burger and fries and a ticket into the OSterbaan fieldhouse are really gonna bring that BIG MONEY recruit into the USLIA. Should we ask Maurice Clarett who he knows in the MDIA thats getting money?
