Sponsorships @ Jerseys

I was wondering what the rules are regarding a sponsors name on a jersey or helmet. I have seen CSU's jerseys and notice that they had a sponsorship name on the back- http://www.uslia.com/photos/2006/tourne ... oto25.html

Anyone know the rules?

I was told a couple years ago that we couldn't.

Rock-it Pocket is owned and operated by CSU lacrosse and their head coach.

Who told you that you couldn't? The MCLA (and MDIA before it) have no rules about placing sponsor logos on jerseys except that they must be from an acceptable business. Ie. no bars, alcohol, tobacco, strip clubs, Chico's Bail Bonds, etc.

no Bail Bonds? You should probably check with your school as well before putting a logo on your jersey.

I don't see anything in the NCAA rules prohibiting this; the NCAA must cover it in bylaws.

Of course. Forgot to mention that you should always check with your school. They may have restrictions based on their own sponsorship contracts.

Chico's Bail Bonds is from the original Bad News Bears movie. A classic.

There are explicit rules regarding sponsor's and even manufacturers logos (and sizes) in the NCAA rules and in the bylaws. Something about only 1 manufacturer logo no more than 2" in diameter, etc.

there are also rules regarding sponsor being painted on the field and within the boundaries, etc.

I'd be interested to see if you could quote a spot in the NCAA lacrosse rules that govern this issue, because I couldn't. However, as you say, the bylaws likely set this out for all NCAA sports at once.

I think some people use the term rulebook for both the playing rules and the Division III manual. This topic is likely addressed in the latter.

I'm sorry, what i found was in the NCAA soccer rules, not lacrosse. I thought I had seen it in lacrosse as well. here is a link to the soccer page that specifically outlines uniforms and what can and cannot be on the uniforms.
