What is more impressive, the goal or the assist. I was trying for 0g 80a season but I had to score a goal on man up the other day.

Umm.......assists......................nah, I can't deny it, picking a top corner is the most satisfying feeling in lax, other than actually winning, for me at least.

As a coach, I love a guy that can finish, or score on a big crank, but someone that creates is hard to find. The assist is by far my favorite part of the game. When I was playing, I loved to get our rookies in a position to score.

Stockton was much more fun to watch than Malone.

There is no guarantee to an assist. You can give someone a sick pass right on the crease and they still could miss the cage or get stoned by the goalie. The goal is something that is certain and yes hitting that top corner is a great feeling.

it depends on what type of person and what type of team you are on....for me i thought scoring was more important than the assist. but this year i am totally different....for instance i would much rather bring a ball down on man up or on a fast break and create scoring oppurtunity...becuase deep down i know that i created the goal. i would much rather be the guy that creates the goal then gets the goal...however in point totals a goal is just as important as an assist.

I agree primtime21, although the fans don't usually cheer till the ball hits the back of the net, when you make break the longstick and draw one or more slides then make a nice pass to the far side for a wide open goal, that's when I think the A is bigger than the G. If only the stat book could show how great the A was.

All I know is that you can get a goal without an assist... but the other way around? That might be hard to do... But always ALWAYS I gotta have respect for the assist, give props to your teammate.

I agree that goals are a great thing and they are what makes you win. I as a player though would rather though have an assist, I prize myself on my dodging and while I can score on it I have learned not to be selfish and if I have an attackman that is great and his defender is watching me I'll thread the needle for a great play. Ill take a assisst because it is a team game.

There is such a thing as trying to be too generous, though. If you choose to pass the ball even though you have a wide open shot, and your pass misses, what good did it do to be a "team player"? I'm all for team play and what not, but I can't stand it when I see someone try to make a pass when it's not at all necessary.
