The Outlaws did keep it up, sort of. They were dominated in the third quarter as the Dragons came back to within one goal. But Denver went on a tear in the 4th quarter and won 15-11.
Alex Smith did not play, but he was a hell of a cheerleader, banging his stick on the fencing near the Outlaw bench after each Outlaw goal.
Alex probably got the biggest cheer of any player on the Outlaws during introductions. San Francisco is MDIA country and
Alex was well received. Ryan Powell did not play for the Dragons. In the final few minutes they really could have used him. They really didn't have a 2 point shooter on the field.
There were around 5600 spectators at Kezar stadium (former home of the 49ers) in the bright sunshine and gentle breezes. The weather will probably never be this good again at Kezar as it is in the fog belt near Golden Gate Park. Here is a picture of the remodeled Kezar (it used to have much larger stands when the 49ers called it home) and the Outlaw bench. The stands were more full than in this photo. The buildings on the hill are UCSF Medical Center.
Here's another angle. With vendors in the foreground and the upper Haight-Ashbury & inner sunset neighborhoods in the background.
