Where are the Maryland club teams?

I have noticed in the USLIA, the lack of Maryland native teams. Am I wrong in saying that some of the best lacrosse players come out of Maryland? If there are no schools playing in the USLIA, where do leagues do these schools play in, or where do the players go? I played 4 years at a school in central MD and play for Liberty University in central VA now, but I just wanted to know where all the Maryland boys are.

Part of the problem is that the MDIA does not admit club teams for universities that have lacrosse as a varsity sport. The other is that a lot of these club teams in the MD area compete in the NCLL. I am sure that any club team that wanted to apply for membership would be considered if they met the requirements, but John Paul could more intelligently answer that part of the question.

Going along with that being the area where the NCLL exists, individual teams wouldn't apply because it's too far of a drive to their closest USL MDIA opponent. It's creeping up that way slowly but surely...just look at the explosion of NC and VA schools, of which Liberty is one.

Not only is the league pushing up from the south but its slowly moving east through pennsylvania. There are now three teams in western pa in the USLIA unlike last year where there was only one. There is also now west virginia university in the league.

And Lom....
The best lacrosse players come from Long Island.

Strong Island indeed. I don't envision club lax growing in Maryland. If you dont have a D1 program then the school has a D3 program.

I think Frostburg may be the only team in Maryland that does not have a varsity program.
No real debate on which area is better for lacrosse.
Maryland... Case Closed

As I was told, in Maryland they can cradle before they are out of the cradle and pick corners before they can pick their nose.

PCLL is also moving south. We plan to be in NJ in the next 3-5 years. Don't know how far away Maryland is from that.

Yeah, jersey is close to east side of MD, which is where most, but not all good MD lacrosse players come from. Maybe the NCLL could lose a few teams to USLIA. I'd like to see that. Then maybe we could see a shift in power in the league.

The MDIA is the most powerful club league. It is a great website which is constantly updated and visited. Coverage on laxpower recruits and in lacrosse magazines. The MDIA does not need to be in New Jersey to gain a power shift.

I think he meant a shift in power in the MDIA from the west coast/RMLC to the east coast.

I am pretty sure that there are several laxers from Maryland playing on several USL MDIA teams these days. I also want to refer to Rob Graff's humorous comment about the best players are from Long Island, and I am sure there are several Long Islanders playing on several USL MDIA teams.
It would be interesting to do a head count on Marylanders and Long Islanders on any USL MDIA teams.

We have five from Maryland. Oh yeah, Harding is in Arkansas. Interesting note, we don't have a single guy from Arkansas on our team.
