Over the past 5 days, SSU posted a 3-0 record against three very solid, ranked teams. On Wednesday #6 UCSB traveled to Rohnert Park for a rematch of last year’s WCLL and National Championship games. The Seawolves played with a vengeance and prevailed 8-6 in an epic battle. Two Days later, in non-stop rain, Sonoma overcame a 2 goal deficit early in the 2nd half to roust #4 Oregon 10-9. Both of these games were played in ankle-deep mud and standing water. The final game was against #13 CPSLO another 2 days later, and Sonoma proved victorious once again, 12-7.

As a result of the above results, the Laxpower computer dropped Sonoma to third behind Michigan.

This forum is for nominations, right? Besides, didn't Michigan lose to Western Michigan? Last time i checked, Noma's only loss was to the now #1 ranked CSU... and my money says that when the new poll comes out next week, Michigan probly will not pass Sonoma. Rankings have little importance in a "Team of the Week" venue.

I think Sonoma deserves it just for slogging through the mud in those games. Your mothers are going to be so upset when you bring those muddy uniforms home - and "don't you dare bring those shoes in my house!!!" Good luck getting it all clean - perhaps you should look for some endorsement dollars from Proctor & Gamble!

BTW - Michigan did not lose to Western Michigan - a slow start, but convincing win.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were nominating SSU for an award.
Wrong forum for poll discussions.

I agree that the MDIA poll will not mirror Laxpower. Just thought it odd that those 3 wins would have that effect on the computer.

Apologies on the Western game, the Michigan MDIA site says differently... but that is odd that Laxpower works like that, maybe margin of victory with the UCSB game or something like that could have affected it. But the criteria states that teams will "rise above the competition and elevate their game to a new level." I believe Sonoma has done that this past week in the mud against some of the MDIA's stiffest competition.

I would like to nominate our St. Johns (MN) in the Division B. At the begining of the year everyone questioned their ability to after loosing some very key players. On our road trip to california we beat the current #1 USD by two goals and lost to #2 Claremount by 1 goal in the last minute of play. Many people labled it a fluke but this weekend we were able to beat arch rival #6 St. Thomas. Many people lable us as a powerhouse in the b divison but people do forget that 4 years ago we were a joke, not even winning one game. It has been an impressive change at a school of 1,800 in the middle of central minnesota where you mention lacrosse and most people think you are talking about yhe town in wisconsin.

NOTE - The nominations should be for the one past week (not what I team did or didn't do previously this season).
