Defense

I did some analysis and noticed something that's changed from the past few years. In general, defenses are letting in more points per game. Granted the season is still fairly young, but most of the top 25 have played at least two other ranked teams. Below is a breakdown of the goals allowed per game with poll rank on the left and goals on the right. Granted it's still pretty low, but not as low as it has been. Do people think this is the result of a higher level of play? More and more of the kids playing in the MDIA have played for a few years or more, so the offensive talent is going up. Or is it just a down year for defenses?

18 Minnesota - Duluth 3 (played no ranked teams yet)
13 Georgia Tech 5.5
6 Oregon 5.57
4 Florida State 5.75
5 UC Santa Barbara 6.29
