Will Yeatman of Rancho Bernardo high school (Poway, Calif.) had to decide which scholarship he was going to accept. A football scholarship would have taken him to Maryland and a lacrosse scholarship sends him to Notre Dame. This afternoon Yeatman called Notre Dame lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan to inform him that he’d like to be apart of the Irish lacrosse program at least for a year.http://notredame.scout.com/2/478673.html

Thats awesome for Yeatman. ND has had players before that successfully managed playing both football and lacrosse for the Irish (see Chad Debolt, graduated '02 i think).

Should be a great addition overall to both programs. Maybe he'll finally help the Irish get that stupid AQ from the GWLL we keep messing up with every year. : )

Besides being 6'6" and 255 lbs., Will Yeatman plays attack and his known to be about the best stich-handler in San Diego High School Lacrosse.

It should also be known that Will's dad, Dennis Yeatman, has also meant a great deal to San Diego Youth Lacrosse by organizing semi-annual lacrosse camps for kids on a semi-annual basis. Dennis Yeatman played for Navy in the 80's and is a real inspiration to people who know him.

Notre Dame is the next stop for Rancho Bernardo's Yeatman

By: SCOTT BAIR - Staff Writer

Rancho Bernardo High football and lacrosse star Will Yeatman has verbally committed to play for the University of Notre Dame.

After being heavily recruited by both Maryland and Notre Dame, Yeatman chose to side with the Fighting Irish on Wednesday evening.

Yeatman will attend Notre Dame on a lacrosse scholarship during his first year at the school. He will redshirt during football season and will be an active member of the lacrosse team.

"It's a great fit," Yeatman said. "Notre Dame is a great academic institution and it has a rich athletic tradition. I'm really excited about the prospect of playing there."

The decision was a difficult one for Yeatman, whose mother, aunt and uncle graduated from Maryland. In the end, though, he chose to go to South Bend.

The 6-foot, 6-inch, 255-pound Yeatman played tight end in high school, but was recruited by many schools as an offensive lineman. Notre Dame, however, recruited Yeatman as a tight end ---- his preferred position.
