An interesting set of articles in Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle Sports section about College admissions and scholarships at Nor Cal D1 soccer schools. Also another about when to specialize in one sport. These articles seem to be applicable to lacrosse as well.
For those of you who seem to think that a club lacrosse coach can get a player into school, read this. D1 soccer coaches cannot get most academically unqualified players into school and there are virtually no full rides in soccer.
The best advice one coach could give was take athletics out of your decision. If you broke your leg the first day of school would you be happy at the university that you chose?

Great advice. Unfortunately, there are a lot of high school coaches out there who look at the recruiting process as a chance to add notches to their own belts (if you consider it a positive to count kids you send to D1 programs), and there are too many parents and kids who have no clue about the process and the realities. I always preach the four A's when choosing a school - Academics, Athletics, Atmosphere and Alumni.
