It's my understanding that Lindenwood will play Missouri at the A-B sports center as part of this event this Saturday. First time any MDIA teams have been invited to take part in the Fall Face-Off event. (Although, I wonder why that factoid was omitted from the press release).

OUR TOP COLLEGE LACROSSE TEAMS PLAY IN FIFTH ANNUAL A.T.G. SUPERTURF FALL FACE-OFF.

ST. LOUIS, MO Four of the top NCAA programs in the country are coming to town to play in the 2005 A.T.G. SuperTurf Fall Face-Off, the St. Louis Sports Commission announced. Teams participating in the fifth annual fall tournament will be the University of Maryland Terrapins, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Ohio State University Buckeyes and the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen. The A.T.G. SuperTurf Fall Face-Off will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton. Two featured games Navy vs. Notre Dame and Ohio State vs. Maryland will begin at 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. respectively.

"Year-in and year-out, the four programs coming to this year's Fall Face-Off play at the highest levels of college lacrosse," explained Frank Viverito, President of the St. Louis Sports Commission. "Interest and participation in lacrosse is exploding in Missouri and across the country making it the fastest growing sport in the nation. On October 8th, the eyes of the U.S. lacrosse community will be on St. Louis."

"Bringing teams of this caliber to St. Louis makes the Fall Face-Off the top ranked fall tournament in the country," added Mike Sennett, Tournament Director and long-time head coach at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis. "But what makes this year extra special is the fact that we have two student-athletes from the St. Louis area retuning home to play in the tournament." Senior defenseman Patrick Dunleavy and red-shirt Junior goalie Drew May are on the '05-'06 Ohio State Buckeye varsity roster. Both are 2002 graduates of DeSmet and played for Coach Sennett at the school.

An added attraction at this year's tournament will be the "Warrior Experience." Sponsored by Warrior Lacrosse, a leading manufacturer of lacrosse equipment, the "Warrior Experience" is an 18-wheel tractor-trailer that features shooting contests, trick-stick tournaments, professional player appearances, boy's & girl's fundamentals clinics, prototype products, no-charge stringing and non-stop prizes all day long.

"The 'Warrior Experience' is really something to see." said Sennett. "At the NCAA Final Four Tournament last May, it drew quite a crowdpeople were dancing; balls were flying; players were showing off their stick skills; kids were getting tips from professionals; it's quite an experience for anyone interested in lacrosse."

The "Warrior Experience" will make its first appearance in the Mid-West at the A.T.G. SuperTurf Fall Face-Off. The attraction will be open to people attending the event beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Title Sponsor for the 2005 Fall Face-Off is A.T.G. SuperTurf, a leading designer and manufacturer of track and artificial turf sports surfaces in the United States. The St. Louis Lacrosse Foundation (the local chapter of US Lacrosse for Missouri) is the co-sponsor. General Admission tickets for the A.T.G. SuperTurf Fall Face-Off are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance by calling the Stickhead Lacrosse at (314) 991-7999. Children 5 & under are free. Tickets will also be available at the front gate the day of the event. Proceeds support the development of youth lacrosse programs in Missouri.

On the molax fall face off page,

http://www.molax.org/MSLA/FallFaceOff05.html ,

it says that Mizzou will play Lindenwood at 11:30 in a "special exhibition". Not sure why it was omitted on the press release. Maybe Kyle or Troy can shed some light on it for us.

After reading the minutes from the GRLC meeting, that may explain why the Mizzou v. Lindenwood game wasn't included.

The two events are unrelated as best as I can tell. The FaceOff press release was prepared well in advance of last weekend's GRLC meeting in Columbia.
