hostile environments
with playoffs coming up and teams getting home games i just want throw out a bone to see who has the rowdiest fans and most hostle environment to go into and play. over the weekend we had our home playoff game during our annual "foss fest" and since we were the main event on campus we had more than few hundred fans out yelling and cheering....did not make it fun for the other team. so i was thinking...where is the hardest place to go to and come out with a win...

IUP Fans
Our fans at IUP are pretty nuts, I think Grove City College and Ferris State University can attest to that. Both of our home games were in the pouring rain and they still came out pretty strong and rowdy.

Playing @ The Pit at UCSB can be pretty intense. They always have a big, loud fan constituency out at their games.
BYU is also up there. Lots of fans and it's cold up there in Provo.

Actually a few Div B teams out here in the RMLC are pretty hostile.....I would have to say that Ft. Lewis and Western state both have more fans that talk more trash then anywere else I have ever been. A few years ago the Western fans even got ahold of our roster so they could heckle with names...it was kinda distracting

we have a pretty big crowd of drunk fans come out to our games. However, since this was our first year in Div. A it was kinda tough to work the intimidation factor. Drunk fans are a good start though I must say!!!

Last year we played at Chapman, and their fans were pretty brutal on our players.
My favorite one liner was to one of our tall lanky defenders when teh told him Big Bird wanted his legs back.

Back when A&M traveled to cali (2001 or 2002).. we encountered the best hecklers during my USLIA career.
Game 1: While playing cal on their horrible turf, one of their drunken fans stood behind our goalie (out side the fence like twenty yards away) and just ripped into our goalie. Eventually the refs stopped the game until the fan moved back to the sideline but he still continued.
Game 2: At Sonoma, our players had their first encounter with the couch crew that resides at the Cossacks (sorry seawolves) games. The game was around 11am yet the fans seemed to be blitzed beyond belief when they showed up during our warm up. Individual players were picked out and a dazzling array of one-liners came spewing from members. Example: At one point they picked out All-american Jason Dunn (then a freshman) and remarked on his big calves for a good ten minutes. Finally, it was getting so bad, (you could tell that Jason was starting to get rattled by the sloppy play) that his mom stood up and intervened. BIG MISTAKE. The couch crew's attention was now drawn upon Mrs. Dunn and her calves. Noting the similarity, the fans then bickered about decency in sporting events. It was a great atmosphere but all in all, Texas A&M lacrosse had a horrible game against a top notch Sonoma team.

We played Fort Lewis a few years ago, and the fans just reamed one of our D-men (short guy) along with a few others all game. Then after the game they invited us to a party at their house. Good guys great fans.

I gotta give this one to MSU. Especially against our team (Oakland) where the hecklers for the most part played high school ball with us. I just thank god my mother wasn't in the stands for that one because it seemed like the sidlines didn't like her or any of the other attackmen's mothers much. Plus, most of them were on couches real drunk, pretty funny.

This is no contest.
Sonoma and UCSB by far have the rowdiest sidelines and if you acknowledge the crowd, be prepared for a long day.
Ali, I recall your trip out to Cali. It was good to see an out of conference team besides BYU or CSU or Michigan, play the top teams in the WCLL North that year (Cal, Sonoma, and Poly). I remember that heckler at the Cal game, but I especially remember an A&M attackman getting absolutely destroyed by a Cal defender. That was by far one of the biggest hits I have ever seen.

That player was Blake Parrish for TAMU... he was a midfielder and he recieved a buddy pass right around the top of the box and .... well lets say he didn't play the rest of the trip and he dislocated his shoulder. I think we still have that hit on tape... you're right.. it was brutal.
