Just saw this out of the CSU press release. He's never been one to come out and talk about his "individual" accomplishments, just wanted to give him some props on the national stage. What are some of the other numbers posted by coaches in the MDIA? I'm sure Coach Lamb and Coach Paul are getting up there into the 100's (or further for all I know). Do most teams keep record of this? Congrats to Flip, though I'm sure he would trade most of those 150 for 7 more this year (CU and the playoffs).

I am sure Tony Scazzero of A&M has well over a 100 wins considering he was like 56-0 over a four year period in the LSA. A&M has been lucky to have Scazzero for the last 20 some odd years and like Flip, he is never the one to talk about his own accolades. Everyone of A&M's past and present players definitely appreciates his commitment. Now he even commutes from Dime Box, Texas (about an hour away from College Station) to coach the team.


I forgot to credit Flip.... that is an amazing amount of wins no doubt, congrats.

i think they just changed it from Dime Bag, TX.

and does Flip's win really count since they were actually wins representing the Rocky Mountain Junior Colleges of America team? (sarcazz).

My guess is that Coach Tony Scazzero of A&M has the longest tenure of any MDIA program. Anybody know this for a fact to be true or false?

In the PNCLL, Coach Dave Schmitz has been at the helm of Whitman's lacrosse club for almost twenty years, and probably has 150-200 wins in that time.

My guess is that Coach Gary Podesta of Santa Clara has had the longest tenure in the WCLL, although GP stepped aside for 1-2 seasons then came back, so his streak isn't consecutive. But he has what -- 20 years coaching SCU?

Who else has been around as long or longer?

I will ask, but I know Joel has been at Va Tech for over 20 years as well.

I believe Tony has been around 20+ years. Just saw that other Aggie guys already chimed in.

Coach Lamb, if my count is accurate, has 143 wins to date. I believe this is his 11th year of coaching at BYU.

352 is an amazing number!

Not only is that an amazing number, that averages to just over 14 wins a season. That's more wins per season than the number of games most teams play in a season. I think about 1/3 of the teams in Division A and only 7 teams from Division B are playing 14 or more games this year.

If any has ever played CSU, Their success is due to Flip, He is a great coach and has worked hard for those wins. He has also done alot for the sport in general. He has kept that team going and going strong as well as the sport of lacrosse, Congrats, im sure there are more wins to come

Tony's philosophy has always been to schedule aggressively in terms of both number of games and quality of opponents. Look at the A&M schedule this year - 19 regular season games plus whatever the post-season may bring (LSA playoffs and potentially the big dance). While the record may not reflect great results this season, it's hard to argue with history.

What about Newberry at SMU? There's a great article in LAx mag about him, I know that sean g. is running the show now, but Newberry has been around forever, anyone know how many years or wins he has?

I'd say. I've played them, that's a bunch of 1-man show ballhogs that somehow rock out and take names. This might be from a guy who has never come within 10 goals of beating CSU in the fall, but...

Most of those guys, i'm actually amazed they show-up. They seem like the type of guys that wouldn't. And for Flip to keep that program running and up on top... wow.

But really I might get that impression because of a few guys and i'd imagine that within a couple years, they will be losing that talent, but growing as a team.

But is there life for CSU after Flip? What will that team look like?
