From Inside Lacrosse

MCLA President Tony Scazzero has resigned, according to a member of the league's executive board.

Scazzero has resigned effective immediately because of business and family obligations, the board member wrote. In accordance with league bylaws, Mike Annala, MCLA treasurer, will be acting president until the new president is selected by the league's executive committee.

MCLA on the Brink in 2014

Tony Scazzero has resigned. Jac Coyne is no longer covering the league. What happens moving forward?

Things will be better if:

The new president understands the changing landscape of the league and is willing to surround himself with decision makers who also understand that the 2014 version of the MCLA is not the 2008 version. Families are spending thousands of dollars over four years of MCLA play. They need to get their money’s worth. This may have to become a full time full pay position.

MCLA Fan or another MCLA site ramps up their news content in an effort to replace Coyne.

Things will be worse if:

The new president isn’t willing to do the work necessary to sustain the momentum Scazzero created.

MCLA blogs, most if not all are non profit ventures, decline. Remember this league was defined by CollegeLax.us for so long. A lack of a go to media site could be crippling.

Dave Franklin has alluded that he may not be covering the MCLA next year as well. The bigger issue will be if IL decides to drop their MCLA coverage should he not return.

I think he's dead on accurate - it's make or break time for the MCLA brand.

With Scazzero's resignation - does this delay announcement of where the 2014 championships will be held? I don't think teams can wait any longer to begin scheduling.
