Yes its all personal opinion, and no im not saying oh boy because Murle didnt make it. I just think that there is a much better coach out there after meeting most of the coaches in Dallas. No personal opinion can be expressed on forums? It is pretty nice to see CCLA get recognition.
John Paul is a great pick though.

Still though, I see GVLax's "passive" point.... Grand Valley went from 5-4 and completely off the radar to 14-0 in the regular season and an awesome run to the national championship game.... seems like that would warrant coach of the year.

Was there voting? Were there more than two options?

Ok when I say this don't take it the wrong way. I have met Coach Paul on several occasions and have enjoyed (ok not really) coaching against him three times in the last two years. However, Coach Paul is not the Div 1 COY. A much better choice would have been one of JP's assistants Kenny Broschart.
Michigan has not made it past the quarters in how many years of the tournament? Coach Broschart comes in after an extremely impressive run at Arizona in the always tough WCLL and they go undefeated and win the national tournament. No one will convince me and many others that this is just coincidence.
Yes Coach Paul has done a terrific job year in and year out with the Maize and Blue. However, it took Coach Broschart to get them over the top.

Id have to agree, Broschart had an influence. Maybe it should be coaching staff of the year. Id have to imagine both coaches would be quick to thank their staff though. And plus, JP should get credit for bringing in Broschart.
