The future of MCLA/Club lacrosse...good or bad?

The other day I was trying to find some flights for a trip I am planning and I couldnt believe how much air fare is. It had me wondering, if gas prices keep rising like they are and flights/busses/ vans keep getting more and more expensive, is club lacrosse/MCLA teams in trouble? Will these prices force teams to travel less which can hurt the league because some great games may no longer be played? Will east coast teams have to travel less because most of the MCLA/Club teams are western teams? Will kids be forced to stop playing because team dues will get to high? At least some division teams make (some) money from games and have boosters/athletic department cash. Anyone else ever think about this? Or any solutions? Please discuss...

A rising tide lifts all boats, so if the tide drops all of those boats are going to sink a little.

In other words, high fuel prices and a bad economy is going to affect a lot of things, and lacrosse is just one of them. I think there will be some effects. Maybe teams will travel, but not everyone will be able to afford to make the trips. You may see teams try to play 5 games in a weekend instead of 3. That sort of thing.

I've thought about this quite a bit. Lacrosse is ultimately an entertainment expense for most people, so it's going to be one of the first things that get cut from some people's budget. But other people will stick with it because they love it and cut other expenses.

Ultimately, I think it will tend to slow the growth of lacrosse, but I don't know by how much.

Side note: I read recently that a few years ago (2004 maybe), gas was about 2.5% of the average person's expenses, and now it's 5%.

One of the things that has caught my attention as the economy slips is that while my other magazine subscriptions are coming with thinner and thinner issues as ad revenues drop, Inside Lacrosse is continuing to come with these nice thick issues. Now there's a boatload of stuff I don't know about the magazine business, but it looks like IL is not hurting too badly.
