I got this idea from the RMLL post, and it got me thinking. Who in your opinion (try to keep it lacrosse related- doesn't just have to be MCLA;) has the worst team name or mascot?

There was a high school team I coached back in Jersey, (St. Rose in Belmar) and we were the "Purple Roses..."
Hard to get respect when your named after a favorite easter flower....and yes, there was a Purple rose suit for the mascot.....

The Barrage
The Machine
The Pride
The Riptide
What exactly is a Bayhawk?
or a Seahawk?
or a Mountain Hawk? I really miss the old Lehigh Engineers.

I actually think the Machine is an amazing name. Throwback to the old times in Chi-town.

Ann Arbor Michigan has a couple fun ones.

Ann Arbor Pioneer Pioneers.
Ann Arbor Huron River Rats

The name Pioneers itself isnt so bad, its the Pioneer Pioneers part thats kinda weird. And of course River Rats its just classy...

I thought it was an homage to Montreal's WLAF franchise of the early 90s.

Both schools lacrosse team fail to mention their mascots in any of their publications for fear of ridicule.

NYU - Violets
I do not know if it is the color or the flower. I will research to find out.

Amherst - Lord Jeffs
I heard Amherst had the oldest mascot in the US, may also be the creepiest.

I think a better throwback to Chi-Towns old days would be "The Butchers".

Also I think that it might be the Kerrville Fighting Antlers you are thinking of, might be a differtent set of antlers in Tivy also though.

My middle school alma mater: The Lanier Purple Pups.

We're the Whitman Missionaries, which in this day and age almost seems un-PC, and in high school I was a Thacher Toad.

My contribution to this discussion is always the same-

Avon, Connecticut
Avon Old Farms School

"The Winged Beavers"

Worst mascot ever.
