MCLA "ProBowl" ?????

What are you thoughts on a "ProBowl" or "North/ South" Type of game between the Div 2 All Americans & Div 1 All-Americans?

-Or-

A "King of the MCLA" between the Div 1 & 2 Champs?

Because this isn't the NCAA and scholarships aren't around, the talent level/ pool can be picked from across the two divisions. Granted numbers and availability between Michigan per say and St. Thomas hypothetically would be a difference, but it's still not like a Salisbury vs. Duke.

This is something I would have always loved to have seen in football, you take the NCAA Champs and play an exhibition game with the worst team in the NFL: LSU vs the Dolphins.....

I think East/West would be a better game in terms of rivalry and geographical divisions.

Now would you include the Div 1 & 2 All Stars of the East & West "Regions"?

If Div 1 all-stars played Div 2 all-stars, it would get U-G-L-Y

maybe a senior bowl like they do in NCAA Football. Then all the MLL scouts could see the MCLA first hand for late round steals.

This would be a great idea, or some type of east-west game

Not sure how much his has been talked about over the years, but what about an MCLA all star team in Vail?

Is that a somewhat subtle hint? If so, that is awesome!

Stellar, Stellar, Stellar idea....
Put it this way, now I am REALLY glad I play in the Master's Division at Vail....:)
That would be a hard game to play against....

Now the question becomes, how do we get this proposed to the MCLA board?

JP, if you're reading this, thoughts?

Vail is a fantastic event, but it is also pretty expensive (unless you have a Mega Bucks Sponsor). Guys are initially excited about doing the trip and pay for the entry fee... but when it comes time to cut the check (which happens right around the Holidays), you get a lot of "no thanks." Which leaves you with a skeleton roster and also increases costs substantial for everyone else.

We did an All-Star game previously at the national tournament (many moons ago). He didn't work out very well for a variety of reasons, mostly timing. Where do you put this game during the week? No one wants to do it after Championship Saturday. Do you do it in the middle? Then the teams advancing don't want to risk injury to their players.

Now that would be fun. Just need to move the goals closer together. :)

I agree this could be problematic unless the league takes on the cost and increase their dues accordingly.

If you did it on Thursday you could have the all-stars from all the teams except for those who are playing on Friday/Saturday.

That leaves out only 8 teams (4 D1, 4 D2) and I am pretty sure those guys won't mind missing the All-Star game in exchange for a chance to win a national title :) On top of that, those all-stars could be replaced by players who might not have otherwise been at the NC, which is kind of nice for them.

Just a suggestion....

We've never had the problem when we put teams together....part of it is making sure that the commitment is understood, you sign up, your on the roster - which means you pay!!!! Also, know that the dues for Vail are due by the holidays, so be proactive and collect before the purse strings get tighter at that time of the year, or set up installment payments.

Its not hard to get a sponsor - espically when you approach them of getting their name out there....heres a hint - local HQ of larger businesses are usually willing to sponsor something (Team Slim Jim, Team Target, Team Monster - Energy Drink) as long as you get decals and unis with their name on it - SUPER BIG HINT - try local breweries!!!!
