The first week of practice for High School lacrosse is coming up quick and with that comes practicing indoors due to poor field conditions.
Anyone have any ideas for practice drills for small spaces? i.e. in a gym or an indoor soccer rink.
Here is a few I have thought about:
1.) 4 vs 3's
2.) GB drills
3.) Weaves
4.) 1 on 1's, 2 on 2's.
5.) Line drills
Practice indoors is rough...

I like to do box passing... 4 cones in a box 15-20 yards apart, three players, one ball, keep sticks on the outside, come to the ball, roll away from pressure, and it keeps people moving.

One fall we had to do all our practices in a gym. We mainly did a 6 line drill with a line at each corner and one on each side of mid court. You can do variations, with each player on the outside four lines using their ouside hand, players on the inside two lines catching with one hand, switching and throwing with the other. We'd start out with one ball and go up to two to keep everyone active and involved. We'd also throw in two roaming D, one for each half of the court to apply a little pressure and make sure the guy catching the ball has to move to a passing lane and not just standing flat footed. You can also do agility drills (ladders, dots, hurdles, etc) wall ball, etc. Good luck, I know from experience it's frustrating.

I would do a lot of wall ball variations.
- One handed (right and left) builds muscle in the arms)
- Catch one hand and roll to the other
- Catch one hand, face dodge and throw
- Behind the backs
- Throw right and catch left
- Throw right and catch the ball in your right hand but on the other side of your face.
- Throw the ball and then catch over the shoulder
- Throw the ball and then catch off hip
I would hit the wall until the kids can't hold their arms up anymore. LOTS OF REPS!
Also, this gives you a chance to walk through your offense and defensive sets. Sometimes it's good to just walk through things. Ex: Clearing, Riding, FO, Man Down, Man Up.......
Hope it's been going well.
