Laxpower Cumulative Rankings - 2000-2007

Postby onpoint on Wed Mar 12, 2008 8:28 am

Interesting thing Laxpower did, combining scores and power rankings from 2000 on.

Interesting that Michigan beat out UCSB for the #4 spot considering the Gauchos won 2 championships and were in the final four each year since 2001. Cool thing to browse.

One has to wonder how accurate the SOS can really be. I was very surprised to see the BC had the #1 SOS. You would think that a RMLC or WCLL team would have to have that just considering their leagues strength.

I think this is only for 4 years. Michigan is showing a record of 65-17, which is about 16-4 for an average season, which appears right.

Agreed, it seemed a little low.

More evidence of Laxpower's unreliability.

To be fair, just because UCSB was "underrated" - likely because of their propensity to play closer games than they are supposed to against teams Laxpower says they should blow out, even in seasons where they win 18 games - it seems to me to be a pretty fair representation of the overall relative strength of the MCLA since 2000. I think Laxpower is an excellent indicator of RELATIVE strength, you just have to take it all with a grain of salt. I don't think anyone thinks it is a score predictor or anything. Those people put a lot of time and effort into their rankings, so to simply dismiss them all together would be as much of a mistake as taking them as gospel.

yeah not sure if it is 2000-2004 (where ever you got that 2000 start date alex) or 2004 til last season, but it is only an accumulation of 4 years of games. you look down at like the RMCL and BYU played 16 conference games in this ranking they have set up, would give them 4 conference games a year for four years. Might even be less years if they count playoffs cause Utah State only has record of 11 conference games, so I really have no idea.

What ever happened to programs like Auburn, Buffalo, Oakland and New Hampshire? In the Top 30 all time, and now...?

Came from a laxpower post on their forums - not that I check those sorts of things - from LAF, one of their admins.

It also says BC is 29-37 over whatever period of time this is. I know that's not right.
