The two funniest things I have ever heard/seen on the field.
1. My last year playing there was a game with KU vs Northeastern or Northwestern College at Columbia, MO, I apologize for not remembering. One of our defensemen, the honorable Brendon Goss, had a penalty called on him. The play was on the opposite side of the field of play, and in like one of those slow motion moments, a helmet (Goss') went flying end over end up in the air landing like 40 yards away from Goss. Once everyone including the guy with the ball stopped to see what the heck was going on, we all saw Brendon running around flailing his arms above his head yelling, "Ahhhh, bees, ahhh, bees, ahhhhhhhhhhh!" Think Chris Farley style.
The ref stunned by what had just occurred blew the whistle and said, "Um illegal procedure on Blue for (waving his hands above his head in ref like fashion) Ahhhhh Bees!" I laughed for 2 days over that. On the side lines later that game, I asked Goss what was up with that. He said, "I hate bees man."
2. The year before KU joined the GRLC, KU played at Dordt. We had this real close back and forth game, and the whole town seemed to show up and boo the hawks. Honestly, we all felt like a bad guy wrestler in the WWF. So with KU up by one and :45 seconds left in the game, I get a 4:00 min non-releasable from the ref for a crap call (so I thought). So I am just yelling at the ref, the whole town is booing me off the field, and I am egging them on. I sit down on the side line, feeling bad for the team, the stands quites way down, and one player from U of South Dakota yells, "Dunkin you @#$%'n rock, and screw that ref!" It erupted the crowd and I laughed so hard I nearly keeled over and the ref just looked at me all pissed. We held on to win and USD is still my favorite other team.

Dordt's fans are pretty merciless. The funniest thing I remember them saying was when we were playing there one time, and one of our guys was wearing a pair of those tan sweatpants that look like khakis, and he was also wearing glasses. The fans yelled out, "Look, they put the statistician on the field!" For the rest of his two weeks that he played, we called him "stats".
And Matt, you do rock. Kansas was the coolest team to ever beat the crap out of us (and believe me, a whole lot of teams have).

I'm good friends with BYU Coach Jason Lamb. We both started coaching out west here about the same time. Most of all BYU and New Mexico are huge rivals in the Mountain West Conference.
In 1996 while I coached at UNM we were in Provo for three games. The first game was on a Friday Night in BYU's Soccer Stadium. It most have been 4-5000 people in the stand that night. BYU's fans are not allowed to use four letter words because of rules within the LDS Church. They kept saying that our Guys had Girl parts. It kept us amused all night. BYU thought it would be a cake walk on a unknown New Mexico squad but we kept the game within 1 Goal until late in the third Quarter when a non releasable call on a illegal stick led to several Goals and BYU blow the game open. The Final was BYU 21 New Mexico 13. All I know is I have never laughed as hard as I did that night at the stuff their fans came up with to say because they could not use four letter words. Even though we lost it was a lot of fun playing at BYU. I hope to play against them again when we get New Mexico's program developed. I sure enjoyed looking at that Snow Capped Mountain that overlooked the campus.

We used to play Mars Hill on a regular basis. Lacrosse was not big there then, and I don't know if it's any bigger now, but their few fans are loud although not the most knowledgable regarding lacrosse. One year they were giving our back-up goalie hell on the sideline saying he must not have been very good since he had to use the big "training" stick, not realizing it was a goalie stick.

The UCSB fans are ruthless. I have been heckled alot but they were the worst. Chapman and Chico were pretty bad as well. Come to think of it many of the games we(Oregon) played in Cali had some expert hecklers. They were witty and did their research. The officials allowed stuff that would never be allowed in our league.

my friends have developed a 10 point slaughter heckling rule:
when ur team goes up by ten or more the home team fans must now heckle their team...
this is funny when ur roomate is loud and has no qualms about anything.
the funniest thing he heckled me about was before the game i had to get some stuff out of the room... i came in and he was sleeping at 11 am... i turned on the lights to find my stuff and being in a rush left the lights on when i left... also i forgot to turn off my alarm clock... he poroceeded to rip me a new one about how much he hated me for having to do all the work in the room and that my girlfriend should be dating him because im irresponsible...
but the funniest thing i hear at our games is one friend of mine who only yells one thing... LACROSSE!!!!... about 20 times during the game... its freaking hilarious when u hear him yelling over everyone and he doesnt know what to say so he just lets us know that we are playing lacrosse... and he brought us orange slices to our last game...

As many of you know Chapman plays their home games in what looks like a football field like stadium. The fans are elevated above both benches. Of course the fans that sit behind the visitors bench spend 90% of the time heckling and the other 10% watching the game. Although I took the brunt of the heckling, I laughed all night because of the things they would come up with. The one I remembered the most is when they started calling me an OOMPA LOOMPA(I'm 187lb and only five nine). The crowd all got together and started singing the song. "OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DOO....
NUMBER 22.... WE HATE YOU!
It was pretty funny even though it was directed towards me.
