Anderson gets his second EMO goal of the day to make it 5-3. This is characteristic of this CU squad. One more would get it close, but BYU won the face off.

Nice fast break goal by BYU. I'm telling you, this Cole kid is for real. Good behind the back assist to Josh Austin. CU had a great chance, but could not hit the open man in the shooting area to the left of the cage. 6-3 BYU.

6-3 after three. Kasaii makes another easy save on man-up. BYU is not really testing him on the ground. To this point, I have the saves at:

CU: 9
BYU: 7 (Powers 4 - Machecknie 3)

Tschaggeny with another man up goal. Kasaii certainly should have had that one. 7-3. Penalties are killing CU right now.

So far, it's pretty unspectacular play from both teams. CU just doesn't seem to want to or is able to bring any offensive pressure on the BYU defense. They seem content to throw the ball around the perimeter with no apparent plan to attack the cage. I don't get it. BYU is playing steady defense and patient offense, but at least they are trying to get things done when they have the ball.

One more save for CU and now they are possessing the ball. Need to score fast. You would think that they would want to attack the shortsticks a little more.

Just as I say that, Morgan goes five hole against a BYU shortie to pull back within 3.

I'm disappointed in CU right now. Morgan is one of the best middies in the league and he is not taking the chance to dodge that shortie. He really has an edge there, but is not taking it. CU has a lot of work to do right now.

BYU is firing the ball at the goal on this man up. One nice save by Kasaii. CU kills the EMO.

I have Kasaii with 11 total saves, BYU has him for 9 this half. They also have Machecknie with seven this half. I have him for 0 in the fourth quarter so far.

Big save from Machecknie and Kasaii both. Now CU has 12 and BYU has 8. BYU controls the ball with about 6:00 minutes left up 7-4. CU will get the ball back.

Hey guys...any word on M. Davis or Monteath? The attack looks very average without them.

7-4 with 4:47 left and a BYU EMO. Time is running out on the Buffs.

They announced at the start of the game that Davis would not play due to injury. It also appeared to me that Zach Austin went out at the end of the 1st quarter with an injury to his left arm or shoulder. I don't think Monteath is playing, but I didn't hear them mention him yet

Announcers are right on the money. CU just doesn't seem to have a go-to guy to get that ball to in an opportunity like this. Good save by Machecknie on Anderson. Still 7-4.
