Just in generality, but it is nice to see people opinions on both the pro level and the amateur level. By the posts in this discussion, it seems as if the amateur level of box gets much more love than the NLL level. Some very good points have been brought up about the significance of box in todays field game, now if only the NLL would clean up their version, then I think we could all agree that box would be beneficial to field lacrosse.

I think the box game even in the MILL days was all about promoting the violence of the sport, the cross checking, the moving picks, and the board checks. I remember as a kid the MILL commercials showed a gladiator putting the armor on and then showing a lacrosse player putting their pads on. Even the only lacrosse video game out there lets you kill other players. It may be a bad image, but honestly it is one of the reasons a lot of people play this game. However, I would certainly like to see the NLL look less like the UFC. I for one rarely watch NLL games and when I do I find it hard to follow and not that enjoyable, I guess I would rather watch hockey.

When I said it was bad I was referring specifically to the NLL. The other stuff is just indoor practice for field - a big difference!

I remember that-they showed it on the scoreboard at a game and got the crowd in a frenzy-it was like Thunderdome!

but I remember the the commerical went on to have the gladiator/lax player step on his opponents head-that is what made it over the top. Fritz quickly had the promo dropped-he wanted specticle, not necessarily manslaughter (or least that's not how he wanted it look).

Anyone catch the game last night? Those clowns stated that this was NY's first team ant that the NT area has potential to become a hotbed. I love VS.

Pig Pen:

I agree with the hot bed comment. But, the Titans are the first team to play at MSG. The Saints played on Long Island or in NJ.

agreed ut that's not the PBP guy said-he said to "play in NY" he didn't specifically say MSG-I am a long time Saint fan and am upset that these guys won't recognize or don't know the fact that there was an Original Four franchise in the NY Metro area-it just leads the genral uniformed public to believe that NY is brand new to the sport especially with the potential to become a hotbed statement.

You can kill someone in blast lacrosse?!! I never knew... and I own the game.

I agree with the point about kids disrespecting the game by thinking that everything the pros do is ok.
