Comparing "Virtual Varsity" to real varsity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't U. San Diego (B Div and champion) play UC- San Diego (A Div national playoff team) and only lose by 3? That is a rare case and I think USD is far and away better than it's B counterparts, but it happened.

You forgot to mention that San Diego also played San Diego State, and won. True, SDSU wasn't a playoff team, but they're still Div. A.

Claremont, who is also Division B in the WCLL, beat a couple of their Div. A opponents. They also had some close losses to a couple other A teams.

Both teams have some pretty good players and coaches. I think that makes a big difference. That and attitude.

No doubt in my opinion that the discrepancy from A to B is huge in the CCLA. Saw a lot of games with teams that finished near the bottom of the A division. To say that MSU is near the bottom of the CCLA-A would be a little exagerated. I think across the league (both A & B), teams play up and down to the level of competition.

Not sure about scheduling of A vs. B games?

I hope I didn't imply that I thought we were at the bottom of A in the CCLA. We finished 4th out of 12 teams and were semi finalists where we lost to eventual champion UofM.

We were top 1/3rd of the league last year, and hope to carry on that tradition this year.

The B side has a long way to go. Not as far as some may perceive. From what I'm seeing a few of the B schools are only a couple of players away from competing. Competition is different than winning, but its happening. The x factor for them is the behind the scenes. The B programs will need a level of commitment from people other than players, and a solitary coach (sometimes 2 coaches). To create an environment equal with A teams a reality.

Hopefully when B teams start to defeat some of the A's. It isn't because the Div-A program had injuries, a bad day, players sick, team flu, or that the A team decided to play some of their "B" players. Just kidding!!!

I pose this question. Would it be a negative thing if there wasn't a need for a A or B division which is largely based on skill and logistics? All things being equal of course.
To get back on topic. Haven't some MDIA teams beaten varsity programs?

Both UCSB & Sonoma have beaten NDNU the last 2 seasons. UCSB also beat MIT in 2004.

Yeah, but they cheated. They put a bunch of integral equations and Riemannian geometry problems on their jerseys, and the MIT players were so distracted they couldn't catch, pass, or scoop.
