I watched BYU-TV for the first time tonight, and can't believe how well they produced that lacrosse game live! It was unbelievable, from the replays, to the halftime segment, it was first class. NCAA teams have to be jealous, I am.

Solid win for the Rams, though nothing necessarily to write home about. I thought BYU did a great job on face-offs and general hustle, but the run was what did them in. I would say that CSU looked average clearing the ball at times and sometimes just had some weird possessions where passes flew about thirty feet over peoples' heads. CSU got some big goals from Tyler Bue and Tim Chorey that really propelled the victory. Tschaggeny and Farquhar continue to impress. Tschagg's first quarter diving goal was highlight material. Farquhar is in control of himself on offense and is becoming much more unpredictable again. 6 v. 6, BYU did just fine on defense. I was impressed overall with how they looked compared to the last time I saw them against Texas A&M. CSU longpoles did not look terrific with the ball in their sticks, losing a couple and just throwing the ball away too. It's tough to be disappointed with a win over your biggest rival on the road, but I wouldn't say that CSU should be (or is) terribly excited about the way they played. All three goalies were solid, but I really doubt that there were a total of 43 saves as the BYU stats advertised. They give a lot of "extra" ones (to both teams) on shots that miss or never reach the goal. Either way, good win for the Rams and now they have some time off to gather themselves before the stretch run.
Always on point . . .

Just got back from Oakland practice, so upset I missed the other half. Congrats to CSU.

Looked like a great game!

My few observations, for what they are worth:

-BYU had more assisted goals today than normal
-BYU didn't give up many easy crease looks like they usually do against CSU...but they gave up way too many backside looks, especially on man down
-Once again, BYU played with intensity for the entire game

-3 goals in 37 seconds were the difference. At least UCSB can say it took the Rams 43 seconds to go on their run...
-CSU in transition = devastating
-Farquhar (sp?) was impressive. A couple of times, he simply made the guys defending him look silly.

From what I saw, if CSU is #1 in the country, then BYU deserves their top 5 ranking. I had my doubts after the Arizona loss, but I feel much more confident about that now. Could I even venture to say that they can "hang" with anyone in the MDIA? Yes...even if I get flamed for it. One thing that BYU has going for it is that they are pretty deep, and that will serve them well in Blaine.

Overall, I think the game was pretty well played. It was a little sloppy at times, but I think that had more to do with the defensive pressure than anything else. It was an entertaining game to watch and it included a number of ties, several lead changes, and 2 huge momentum swings. Despite the bad blood that has existed between the two teams, the game (from what I could see on TV) was played with a pretty high level of sportsmanship. All that said, as a BYU fan, it was still painful for me to watch.

Yeah, this was a big win for CSU, but could have been played more cleanly. It seemed at times CSU would ruch their posession and end up throwing the ball away or making a bad pass to someone not so open. It seemed when CSU did slow down their offense and posessed the ball they looked pretty sharp. I agree with Alex, Tschaggeny's diving goal was pretty sweet, he seemed to run past what looked like about four defenders. The goalies looked sharp for both sides, played well. I felt that clearing the ball CSU looked decent, BYU had a good ride. Defense looked a little shaken, dropping the ball a few times when normally it would not. but they held their ground and kept BYU out of the goal when it counted. Timmy(#13) and Shay(#39) both played a well rounded game, grabbing just as many goals as assists. It looked to me after Timmy blew by his defender on his first goal, it appeared the D guy started to walk towards the bench before the ball was even in the goal. Tyler's rip was a great shot, when a player with a shot is that close, good luck. Overall, I thought it was a good game, exciting to watch, as most CSU vs BYU games are, even though it was not the most fundamentally sound game. should be an exciting run between now and may. the two teams will only get better later on in the season. Nice work on both sides. Get some rest on that bus ride home boys  .
