One of the nicest fields I've played on was on the Mall in DC next to the reflecting pool just down from the Lincoln Memorial.

Then again, getting to play in UF and GA Tech's Footbal stadiums (stadii?) when they were turf in the 80's was pretty cool, too. The Swamp had extra padding under the mat...nice.

How does this picture I took at the Edwards nexturf field at last summer's Vail Shootout measure up?

I'll search for my favorite photo of the Hawaii tourney and post it after practice.

That raises another question I've always wanted to ask - Which MDIA teams have gotten to play in their football stadiums over the years?

In the SELC, Tennessee and Georgia Tech got to play at Neyland and Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field respectively in the early 90's when both facilities were artificial turf. Didn't realize that Florida got to use the Swamp (Ben Hill).

Eventhough I brought up the new thread on a lacrosse venue, this is actually an excellent new thread to start off following Sonny's lead about which MDIA teams were/will be able to play in their football stadiums. That is going to be fun to find out HOW MANY get to have that chance.

Iowa uses the Bubble which is the football team's indoor practice facility but if I ever got the chance to play inside Kinnick, I would die a happy man. Even if the place was empty except for the people playing.

Other places I would like to play
-Boise State's smurf turf
-Vail
-Hawaii
-Clark Stadium in Plano with 20,000 like it was a Plano-Plano East football game in the old days. We had the chance to ask to play in it when our grass fields at the little fields next to it were rained out for a playoff game but the football coach wouldn't even let us breathe on it so we had to play our home game AT Dallas Jesuit.

Cool places I have played before
-Alongside Lake Michigan on Northwestern's field hockey field.
-Illinois State's football stadium at night
-Kansas State's little stadium, wished we could have played with the new turf

From the Midwest: I think Illinois & Michigan State got to play at their football stadium (with turf fields) in years past.

My freshman year at BYU we played CU @ Folsom Field. Growing up in Colorado it was cool to play on a field I'd only seen on TV.

I was fortunate enough to play in Reser Stadium (Oregon State), Martin Stadium (Washington State), Husky Stadium (University of Washinton), and Quest Field (Formerly Seahawks Stadium--PNCLL All Star game). It's great to drive by or see a football game on TV and say "Hey, I played on that field."

DanGenck, Georgetown (if we're talking about GU in DC) is an awful place to play. Their regular field is located in a pit, and has awful irrigation, their astroturf field is alright but not the best.

Personally on the east coast I'd rather play in Byrd stadium, Homewood, or Cuse's Dome if I were going to pick a school field. Otherwise get me near the beach on the east coast, and just make sure the field has lines.

I really dig that photo from vail.

I believe the A&M played a game in Kyle Field back when it was turf...wow that was a long time ago. Wish I could have seen that one.

if you have played at pepperdine, you would have to put that near the top. The field overlooks the ocean in malibu... the field isn't in the greatest condition, but the view certainly makes up for that

I know LMU's field has a pretty spectacular view of Los Angeles, only thing is you could be choked by the smog on the warmer days. :x :x

But, I think you nailed it with Vail, unless you are playing in the Swiss Alps the view isn't getting any better. 8)

Playing at the foot of Diamond Head in Hawaii whre the Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational is played would be appealing.

I was responding to a comment that related more to size of venues as opposed to grass quality. Georgetown is an intimate setting with views of the campus and there is great atmosphere among fans for each game... something that would be lost if lacrosse were played in Reliant Stadium as was stated earlier in this thread.
