I don't know for sure, but my understanding is that the officials are covered when officiating lacrosse and that it doesn't matter if the players are US Lacrosse members. That would be ridiculous, since there's no way for the official to check that, and in many areas US Lacrosse membership is not required for players (e.g., I don't think they need to be members in most of New England nor for NCAA play). But I'm not an expert on the insurance aspects of the game yet.

I don't believe that's 100% true... we were always told in the PCLL that if a PCLL team played, UMass club, for instance, the game had to be played at the PCLL site or else the officials wouldn't be covered. Unless the rules have changed.

As I understand the officials insurance through US Lacrosse - It covers the officials anytime they walk on the field for an amateur lacrosse contest (Youth, H.S., or College, or even Post-Collegiate) regardless of whether the participants carry US Lacrosse insurance or alternate insurance. The only thing the USL officials insurance doesn't cover is professional lacrosse where the players are paid to play lacrosse.

The other thing to remember is that the USL officials insurance is secondary coverage - not primary coverage. Your primary coverage is MUCH more important in the event something should happen.

It depends which insurance you're talking about. For medical insurance, I think you're right. For liability, I'm not sure that's true. And for game-fee insurance, I don't know of many people who have another policy!
