Our home field is regulation football length, not 85-90 yards long. I do have to agree with you that the field was horrible, uneven in places with very little grass, which is probably why I literally broke my ankle in the very game that you're talking about.
Good thing they're currently redoing the field with Nike turf, should be sweet when it's done
Worst MDIA Facilities?

Oakland played Georgia two years back at there local high school, the field was covered in mud and about a foot of water in spots of the field. Looking for the ball was like looking for a penny in the deep end of a 12ft pool.

You guys have grass?
Our game field is a few yards short as well. The rugby team is constantly putting holes in it for their goals and not filling them up, which isn't a nice surprise for an attackman behind the goal looking to feed. We've also got random things sticking out (I'd call them sprinklers, but they obviously don't bother to water) which have to be spraypainted orange. It's also the field used by intramurals, so by the time we start playing home games in the spring, it's pretty sad looking. Depending on where it's painted, there might be 1st and 2nd base on there as well.
Our practice field (the girl's game field) is about as bumpy as the plains w/gophers. The only advantage is that it's fenced in (don't lose as many balls) and that it turns out our practice times aren't very bad at all when compared to the rest of the MDIA.

i agree with people on the forum about Florida States facilities. when we went there a couple years back, we played in an outfield of a softball field. it was raining and the field was about six to ten inches of mud. they may not have the worst facilities, but that is the worse field i have played on.
i remember out practice field getting towards the end of the season was a big hard area with only dirt. i guess that happens to most practices fields towards the end of the year. kind of reminded me of the sandlot, watch out for strong winds.

i played in the CSU - UF game in 03, that is not their normal field. As i recall, FSU shut down their facilities and the FSU lax team scrambled to get the games played. I believe that was a city park.
That field is actually comperable to their home field though.

Agree with the Virginia Tech thing. Field is fine, but man-the cow smell.
I may be biased, but i dislike my own home surface. It's old slick turf on top of concrete with some (but little) cushion. The worst part is the actual blades of the turf. Each ones like a razer blade. Cuts you up bad.

There is also the Stillwater Dome in MN. I prefer to call it the ACL Tear Dome. I know of at least 3 torn ACLs on that field during one UMLL season. I wouldn't doubt it if there were more. You know it is bad when the refs start noting the field for the injuries it causes. Also if you play goalie and have a tendency to drop to your knees get some steel wool to pad your knees. It will be safer.

This Was Pretty Bad Field
One time we went up to University of Nevada, Reno. I guess they were preparing the field for new turf and, the lax team shared the filed with the rugby team. Before they could put the new turf in, they had to level out the filed. To do this, they covered the field in a foot of sand. The field looked like a neglected sand box, there was grass growing through the sand. Once the game started it was horrible. You went for a gb you got a stick full of sand. When caught a pass, you got a face full of sand, The funniest thing was was that the face off x was a 2 foot hole by the end of the game. One more thing i neglected to mentioned was that it was 30 degrees!!!

Not to say that it is worse than any of these venues (especially the florida field with ant hills and mosquitos) but the field we had the first two years was 10 yards short in all directions, had utility boxes on the field (looked like manhole covers), a sidewalk established the far sideline and it too was part of an intermural soccer and softball field. The only real plus was that it is 30 feet from a Taco Bell so being downwind only made you hungry. That cow patty aroma sounds enticing though.

That game was supposed to be a great way to promote Lacrosse at a great metro Atlanta high school. It was unfortuante that we ended up playing in a monsoon. I'm surprised they even let us play the game considering we destroyed their football field. We'll be glad to host Oakland or anyone at our regular home field which I don't think is all that bad.
