Actually the rule pertains to "you can't bodycheck a player with anything but his two feet on the ground". If he still has the ball in his stick you can try to check it out. It's hard from that video to tell if they are getting all stick or not, but it does seem reminiscent of Rodney King!
Can't we all get along here??

Wisclax wrote: As far as complaining about the 6 pole rule i dont see anything wrong with it. It encourages offenses to be that much better and when a team like MSU comes with the amount of players they have they shouldn't be strained to put 6 poles out there unless they lack the talent.

The argument against the 6 pole rule has nothing to do with the number of talented poles or improving offenses. Its that Wisconsin's tournament and league are the only places that still uses this rule for college ball. Fall ball for teams other then Wisconsin is a practice for the spring season. Playing 6 poles and playing against 6 poles is not beneficial for a team. It'd be like basketball teams playing 7v7 preseason games. Sure you should have enough talented players and you have to work harder on offense, but how does that help you in the regular season? Plus Wisconsin gaines a clear advantage in the tourny b/c they practice and strategize based on these rules, while nobody else does.

I have played club lax at UW for 4 years and have beaten MSU 2 out of the 3 times we've played. This past game we were without a starting D man, our starting goalie, and a starting attackman. We practice once a week and do not pretend we are a varsity program. If you lose a game just leave it at that and don't complain to a message board. MSU was conceding faceoffs just so they could have 6 poles on the field the whole time. Losing that game was MSU's fault not the refs. Bad calls were being made both ways. Also, MSU was up 5-4 with 30 seconds left and 6 long poles on the field.

P.S. it is ludacris for a coach to call the other team cheaters when shaking hands after a game.

You have beaten MSU lax in FALLBALL. I know in Wisconsin that is a big deal, since your regular season in the spring consists of beating up on small Wisconsin schools because you refuse to join a real league, but for everybody else it is preseason. They dont post their fall wins on their website like it matters. MSU was without their All-American middie, starting LSM, starting D-middie, and their attackman who led them in points last year. Plus, each time you have won it was under your own rules. You lost to them when you played them by the rules the rest of the country plays by. All that being said, MSU was not conceding face-offs, the MSU LSM happens to be one of their better face-off middies. But the Wis. middie was beating whoever they threw in on face-offs anyways. Bad calls were made both ways, the ones on MSU just came at the most critical points at the end of the game. And #39 made a great play on an ISO to tie up the game with less than 30 seconds left. He deserves a lot of credit. All in all, I'm sure MSU would love a rematch in the spring, but Wisconsin is too busy enjoying the league they created to win a tittle every year. Plus I'm sure not everyone on their team would even be eligible to play in the MDIA anyways. Best of luck to you the rest of your season, and the spring also.

I think this discussion has gone too far, and it's mostly my fault. Wisconsin won that game. Discussion over.

My apologies to the forum moderator for tarnishing this great forum.

I'm a young coach, and have much to learn.

With all respect Wisclax, I believe the word you were looking for is ludicrous.

the call was good

The POV was wrong for anyone watching the posted video or anyone on the near sidelines to see the push. I'm not surprised AJ or another official would come to that conclusion from that viewing angle. The video footage I have shows it pretty clear.

Okay, what am I missing here:
"Slashing SECTION 7. Slashing includes the following actions: a. Swinging a crosse at an opponent’s crosse or body with deliberate viciousness or reckless abandon, regardless of whether the opponent’s crosse or body is struck. "

"Pushing SECTION 10. A player shall not thrust or shove an opponent from the rear. A push is exerting pressure after contact is made and is not a violent blow..."

It sounds like the officials that were consulted were just telling people what they wanted to hear. I'm sure they know the rules.

This is my last comment: Whether it is fall ball or not, or whether the refs made bad calls or not- the MSU coach was still calling the Wisc players and coaches cheaters while shaking hands in line... followed up by a lot of complaining on a message board.

Nobody said cheater in line, nobody has accused you of cheating. I was in line between the other two coaches.

I love how everyone stands tall behind their keyboard. I will take this opportunity to remind all parties of the USLIA.com message board rules.

1. KEEP IT CIVIL; DO NOT "FLAME"; ATTACKS ON MDIA TEAMS/CONFERENCES/PLAYERS NOT ALLOWED; NO CURSE WORDS ALLOWED
Do not personalize any post. Debate vs. flaming: This is a friendly place. Debate is encouraged, but flaming is not allowed. Flaming is personally attacking someone. For example, saying "Any idiot knows that isn't true" is flaming because the person was just called an idiot, while "I passionately disagree" is not flaming even though it's rather emotionally charged. Finally, “attacks” on USL MDIA players, coaches, teams, conferences, referees, and/or administrators are not allowed under any circumstances. Finally no curse words are allowed on the message forums. Inserting characters for curse words is not an acceptable substitute.

Bottom line -- If you can’t make your point with out disparaging another member of the MDIA community, then do not make it on USLIA.com. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Oh, man! I was hoping to have more funny complaints to read about, but if we're calling it quits, then at least the flagrant attacks on the UW lacrosse program will be silenced. Let it be known that throughout the season, no matter where we played and under what rules, we were 39-2. We play just as hard as anyone else and take pride in our victories. If you can't adjust to a few simple rule discrepancies, then you go ahead and restrict your play to small leagues and local teams. See you at the next Big10 tourney.

I am the Michigan State Coach. Neither I, nor any of my coaching staff called anyone any such thing. The only things I said to any of the players was "Good Game" or "Thanks for having us out".

After that I spoke with hal about how crazy of a game it was, and he said he couldn't have hoped for a better competition. I agreed.

Which coach are you accusing of saying this?
