Just in generality, but it is nice to see people opinions on both the pro level and the amateur level. By the posts in this discussion, it seems as if the amateur level of box gets much more love than the NLL level. Some very good points have been brought up about the significance of box in todays field game, now if only the NLL would clean up their version, then I think we could all agree that box would be beneficial to field lacrosse.
I think the box game even in the MILL days was all about promoting the violence of the sport, the cross checking, the moving picks, and the board checks. I remember as a kid the MILL commercials showed a gladiator putting the armor on and then showing a lacrosse player putting their pads on. Even the only lacrosse video game out there lets you kill other players. It may be a bad image, but honestly it is one of the reasons a lot of people play this game. However, I would certainly like to see the NLL look less like the UFC. I for one rarely watch NLL games and when I do I find it hard to follow and not that enjoyable, I guess I would rather watch hockey.
