Shooting

I'll just throw in my two cents for what it's worth.

There are three kinds of shooters: legs, arms and body. Usually, the faster, harder shooters are going to be the leg guys. Learning to use your legs, lowering your body and transfering the power to your swing will result in a faster shot. This is similar to golf, hockey and baseball. Pitchers work out to make their legs stronger so that they can get a better push and a harder transfer of energy in their throwing motion. The same theory applies to shooting a lacrosse ball.

The arms guys are just that, all arms. They muscle their shots and push the ball instead of whipping or slinging it. The stronger they are, the harder their shot. They don't really turn their bodies for added torque, they just use their shoulders and arms. I don't recommend this because you limit your speed and rarely can you get off a quick shot.

The body shooters are the guys who use a little of both. These are guys who can shoot on the run and turn their bodies to get the torque for more power. These guys are usually midfielders.

Things I would suggest to get a better shot: learn to bend your knees and to use your legs. You work hard to make your legs strong, so why not use them in all facets of the game. The straighter you stand, the slower your shot.

That's my 3 cents worth.
